TSA Rules apply to aircraft with __ seats

How many seats and the TSA starts to enforce their reign? I though the limit was 12 or something like that, wanted to make sure.

Depends on what section of their reign of terror you are talking about. They've been snooping around the corporate aviation world, not with that stupid 311 rule, but basic security-wise.

Do they even have the right? I mean to be there in a corporate/135 flight department?

If they don't, they're making it their right.

They've been slowly invading our airport with absolutely RIDICULOUS policies.

The TSA has, in effect, circumvented the rule making process and their mandate with the "latest" set of "rules". At our home airport we all have to have SIDA badges, have to escort anyone and are subject to fines and such if we allow a breach of security (intentional or not) or fail to report one.

The TSA can search your aircraft for prohibited items, but they do not have a list of items that are prohibited.

All the training for and "education" to acquire a SIDA badge is at the individuals expense (another tax without a vote).

I got stopped by the Gomer Gestapo walking the 50ft to the bathroom in JAX. Luckily I respected his authoritay and was let off with a warning since I was in uniform and had other official looking plastic thingies hanging from my neck. I think he was counting the letters on my ID and matching the number of letters with the logo on the side of the plane. Good thing, because I would have had to call for clean up on aisle five before I got to the next stop. What an incredible farce.

Ditto (1+9). Not sure it has much to do with seats, but rather the areas of access (terminal vs. FBO). Could be wrong though.
We only pull up to a terminal if that's where customs is. Other than that, it's all FBOs for us.

...and random empty spaces next to gates on the ramp. :dunno:

...and random spots on the ramp next to a parking lot with no gate.

What airline are you with? TSA can be a bit irritant at JAX, but most of them are cool. From what I was told, if it is a passenger aircaft that holds more than 15 peps, the passengers are subject for TSA inspection. I could be wrong. As much as TSA have been changing lately, I would not be supprised if it is different.

Their 12.5 program unfortunately means 4 of our 5 jets are under TSA reign for every part 135 flight. Lifeguard flights have some exclusions but we are supposed to play by their rules for all our just that are 12,500lbs. and over. So, it's not a seat thing, it's a weight thing.

I guess what I was asking is, at what point would the TSA have their security checkpoint setup so that you could board an airplane. If the plane is over 12500lbs mtow, they have to file something with TSA right? Maybe it's not a number of seats issue but a weight issue, but i'm still wondering what that limit may be

I've seen people walk straight out of an FBO and get into a DoJet, so I'm not sure TSA needs to "screen" you right at 12,500#. Not sure. I'll see what I can find.
