Just started new job.

I just started my new job flying for Seaborne Airlines. I will be flying the DH-6 on the wheel side. There are 5 people in this class, which I guess is one of the biggest they have ever done. There were two others, but they ended up not making it for personal reasons.

Wish me luck on the training. 3 weeks down here in St. Croix and then 5 days up in Toronto for the sim. After that, checkride!

I also drew San Juan as my base, so if there are any other JC'ers that work for Eagle or some other outfit in San Juan, let me know. I am still trying to find a viable car and apartment.

Seaborne, eh? That's downright awesome. Do you have any plans to get your CAMES and switch to the float side?

Don't work too hard down there in the islands ;)

What's the make-up of the class like, by the way?

I wouldn't mind moving over to the float side of things, if they need me to.

As for the class make-up, I think all of us have the ATP minimums. Two of the guys were previously furloughed 121 guys, and the rest of us were flight instructors. I have around 1800TT and 400 multi. I know they look for the ATP minimums so that they can upgrade you when needed. I don't think any of us had previous twin otter time. All and all everyone in the class seems cool. I had dinner with 2 of them this evening.

yup, that job has nothing to offer. Better bow out now, but before you do give them my contact info eh?

Congrats, that gig has got to be great fun. Maybe they will ever let you fly the schedules on 'island time.'

Sounds awesome man. You guys lease a few of our aircraft. I was lucky enough to ferry 189GC down there last winter. Have a rum runner for me!

1. Don't get a car. Used scooters are the way to go--they let you take them on the freeways down there (or they did 4 years ago).

2. Try to find roommates in Isla Verde. It's safe and there's a lot of pilots looking for people to split space. I paid $500/mo for a furnished room in a 3 BR that was 2 blocks from the beach. Craigslist has some stuff, but if anyone can hook you up with postings from Eagle guys that's the way to go.

Yeah they have 2fer Tuesdays, so I might have to have 2!

I bet that was a pretty fun ferry flight.

Lazarito!!!

Long time no speak! Congrats on scoring that gig! They seem to have a pretty good operation.

I just got back from PR yesterday. As someone mentioned earlier Isla Verde is your best bet as its right across from the Intl airport and about 5 miles from Isla Grande airport. By any chance do you know which airport they use?

If you have any questions regarding the area just hit me up. One place you definitely have to check out is La Perla, lots of history!:sarcasm:
The next time im in town we definitely have to hookup so I can show you around.

sweet. i spent some time in st croix... didnt know they did anything on wheels.

try not to go stir crazy on the islands... i was about ready to leave st croix after a week, even though it was nice and relaxing...

Heya! Good to hear from you.

We are based out of SIG. I have been looking for stuff around that area and have a couple of leads. Once I get settled you are more than welcome to come down and show me the ins and out (or the whathaveyous) of San Juan.

PS: Watch out for Chung in the 777. He might be landing in Miami sooner than you know!

Yeah they are expanding the wheel plane ops atm. I know what you mean about the island life. That is why I went for PR. It is a lot bigger and you really don't feel like you are on an island so much. I am closer to Cuba as well, if I need to get some free healthcare! :)
