When you roll your mouse over a thread topic it gives you a little pop-up with the first few lines in the post. Is there a way to have that little pop-up stay a little longer. I find myself having to roll over it a couple times to read enough to decide whether I want to go into the thread. Im a little slow i guess

Good Idea! Never really thought about asking but it makes perfect sense.

Why not just click on it instead of wasting time rolling over it?

Alright folks thanks for the 'welcome' of a new user to our website. Classy.

To answer the question, there might be a setting on the back end of the website, I'll have a peek when I get a chance.

What browser are you using?

Quick Marty! We need to travel back in time to 2008 and welcome our new visitor!

Delete internet explorer and get firefox/google crome. It is a tooltip timeout feature. If you use firefox, here is the addon you will need to go with it: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Intern...s/Mozilla-Extensions/No-Tooltip-Timeout.shtml

I am unsure if later versions have this ability built in, you will have to do some research.

If you want you can edit it in your registry, I don't know the code to do it. I found the code to disable it, maybe you can use this and figure out how to modify it for a display time variable:

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name: ShowInfoTip
Modify/Create the Value Name [ShowInfoTip] according to the Value Data listed below.
Value Data: [0 - ShowInfoTip Disabled / 1 - ShowInfoTip Enabled]
Exit Registry and Reboot

Don't you just love windows. PS I am on a mac now too. The days of regedit, coding, and addon searches for relatively simple changes are over for me!

Good luck bud.

Today is a very poor choice of days to play smartypants.

What browser are you using?

Probably not. Typically features like this are browser controlled, not website controlled.

I did limited research but: http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t164711-any-way-to-specify-alt-text-timeout-in-seconds.html

That forum seems to confirm that HTML code cannot do this, maybe java can though. Searching vbulletin forums I came up empty.

The preview uses the "title" attribute on a "td" element, so that isn't controllable, as you say. However, it's possible to generate the popup by javascript, which would allow fine control over how long it was visible.

Yeah, i'm more of a reader than a provider of valuable information... Tend to not post much. Explorer is my browser, although it seems to be kind of useless info now.

And who wants to really travel back to 2008? wasn't exactly the greatest of years to want to go back to.
