American 331

I thought I heard somewhere 'innocent until proven guilty' but I can't remember.

This maybe a daft question but if he had a tailwind, why didn't he just land in other direction and come in over the sea?

There is an ILS for only RWY 12 and ceilings at the time were around 1,400 ft. It may have been decided that a circle-to-land on RWY 30 was not possible.

This accident is basically the PIC making one bad decision after another and his last one was landing halfway down the runway in torrential rains with a tailwind...

Wow.

Just so you know, a circle-to-land in a jet is not the same as doing it at 500' in a 172. Throw in that it was late at night, at an airport with terrain and heavy rain everywhere, and it's a potentially unappealing (and illegal) maneuver. You know *none* of the facts now...you have only what the Jamaican officials say (and they are going to blame the crew no matter what happened), and you definitely don't know anything about AA's policies. So I'd suggest reserving judgement for at least a little while.

+1 on that statement, although I fixed how judgment is spelled.
