I met Sully yesterday on the IAH terminal train

I was with my crew traveling to a deadhead home and Sully got on the train. No one else was on board the train so I introduced myself and thanked him for what he has been doing for the profession. He said that he's "not done yet." Apparently he had just been meeting with NASA in Houston and was traveling to LGA for the premier of the documentary that is airing soon. We also spoke for a minute about his experience at the Rose Bowl (he was the grand marshal of the parade). He was a very nice person...approachable, humble, and kind. He asked if we managed to spend some time with our families over the holidays, where we were going, etc. Once the doors opened and we were back in public I made sure to back off and let him go on his way. I'm sure he gets enough attention everywhere he goes.
 
I saw him once at SFO not too long after the incident, probably trying to catch a jump on UA. But I didn't say anything to him because it was very crowded and I don't like to bother people, he probably already gets way more attention then he wants, I doubt he wanted everyone at the gate to realise who he was.

Yeah I agree with you there. There were only 4 of us on the train, so I went ahead and talked to him. In a weird way since we were all crew it would have been more uncomfortable had we not said hello.
 
Nice to hear--although I'm not surprised. From day one, he's struck me as a classy, humble gentleman. Can they clone him?!
 
I am reading his book and it is a good read.
Those character traits are apparent in the book too.

If I were in that situation I'd probably talk to him, too bad when I saw him it was in the middle of the terminal.
 
I don't like to bother celebrities either. I feel that the last thing they want is another stranger bothering them. I am an introvert anyway so it is against my nature to really approach anyone and just start chating.

I think it depends on the celebrity and what kind of celebrity they are. Everyone I've met was pretty cool.

The last celebrity I've approached was LL Cool J at McDonald's in the USAirways terminal at LGA about a year ago :)

Don't mind him... He's just angry that it was an Air Force guy and not a Marine.

I've commuted to CLT with him on the other jumpseat once. Really nice guy in person.

Edit: And by 'him' I mean Sully. Although Lloyd is a nice guy in person too.

Don't be sorry - more people should say what they mean, and back up what they say. At least now I know how you feel about me, and I'm totally cool with that! ;)
