That was the worst business/career decision I ever made by going to that school. A total rip-off. I never did any real research b4 going there(my own fault). Thank God I am not in the debt many former students/instructors are in now. Don't even get me started. I slap myself daily for attending that place.

I'm not that bitter about the old episode with Shawn Raker, DCA and Tracy Thomason, but it's certainly good to see that chapter closed.
A flight school pimping an airline's brand so bad, having their operatives press me into becoming one on their "Stepford Wives" and wonderful Shawn Raker imploring that I shut up or shut the website down was a fight that I was more than happy to take when push came to shove back in 2003.
Used car salesman techniques, talking big time smack behind my back, but vehemently denying it face-to-face and going so low as to go after my job because I refused to resort to being some animatronic robot and pimp the academy, among other things, well, let's just say there's going to be a double-cocktial in my future this evening which has nothing to do with New Years Eve.
Good riddance.
Over-promising, over-charging, and you guys left A LOT of people with six-figures of debt when we couldn't get to them first and show that there were other options to pursuing their career goals.
Shawn Raker, formerly of DCA, then CAPT, then FTSI (Flight Training Services International), I know you're reading this. There'll always be a place in my heart for a man who went through such great lengths and attempted to pull all the strings he could to bring down my website and blatant threats to have me fired if I didn't comply with... (ha!) your demands.
But it didn't work, did it.
I will buy that double cocktail for you; make it a double-double.
I had no idea that sort of stuff was going on.

Enlisted a private attorney in Texas and also ALPA contract administration.

I flew with a guy once that was going on and on about his experiences as a "check airman" at his last company. So, when I asked him what company he worked for, he replied "I flew for The Academy".

Edit: Don't get me wrong folks, I have nothing against DCA because Shawn Raker is no longer with them and Tracy Thomason left as well. Tracy was actually a pretty nice guy who just got 'busted' by some things getting back to me that were said at an informational event which he claims he didn't say. But the person who reported this described him exactly.
I'd drink a beer with Tracy any day and clear things up, but Shawn, HUH! NOOO THANKS.
You don't just threaten a man's job, get rejected by the powers that be, and then attempt to go above their heads and start a bunch of crap. Glad it backfired on you.

I wonder if they both grab for the gear and flaps after t/o only then to realize neither one is flying the plane. At that point, they are on Step 3, and the cockpit is quiet as the aircraft careens towards terra firma.

Don't forget about Frank. He was a dedicated poster for DCA admissions here on JC. He got screwed by DCA managment too.

I did the tour at the academy circa 2000. I enjoyed the tour as it was pretty polished up. Hell I toured a lot of the major schools. At least DCA paid airfare and I even returned home in first class. NICE! Did I go and offer half my soul? NOPE. Oh well.
