to find a business jet that is $2 mill or less that doesn't have timed out equipment? Basically looking for a Citation or maybe a Lear and the buyer does not want a turboprop. So far most of the jets either have extremely high airframe times or timed out engines which would put the overall price of the aircraft over $3 mill. I am new to this so I am looking for suggestions :confused:
 
How big of a jet do they want? Aren't some of the new VLJ's in that price range? I heard the D-Jet was supposed to retail for under $2million when it goes into production.
 
Would be looking for a light to midsize jet.

The biggest problem we have run into are engines that are about to be timed out along with tired airframes that would just end up taking the initial cost of the aircraft over the intended budget.

If you don't mind TFaudree to maybe PM me some more info on the equipment on the aircraft along with engine SMOH or SNEW times so I could forward the info on to the man with the money :p
 
My advice is to not get too excited about working with someone with that kind of budget. One way or another they are going to find out that the operating cost is going to more than eat up the difference in purchase price, and if their pockets aren't deep enough to handle the costs there is going to be penny pinching going on.

The only way I'd feel comfortable with someone buying a high time, low cost turbojet is if they have experience operating that kind of equipment, understand the limitations, and can fill a specific operating niche. In most cases there are better, more cost effective answers to meet the client's flight needs. I won't go there though, unless you want to explore some other options. :)
 
The guy that is setting up the operation is a no BS guy that has already explained the costs of operation for this type of aircraft.
He also has plenty of experience with corporate aviation as he has already set up a few flight departments for other businesses. If it was someone doing it his first time, I would be right with you.
 
I can probably get you into a Cj2 for 2.1 or 2.2. I think they're asking 2.9. Engines don't have a ton of time on them (since overhaul), I'll find out Saturday exactly how much time (after we get done with our trip) and I can get you the details then. Plane has just over 4000TT.

It's been awhile but I know my old company had some of their Lear 35s for sale, dunno about what the owners were selling them for though. You might be looking for something rather hard to find, but you probably can do it, so many people are trying to sell their planes I bet you can find a good deal somewhere.

I believe we could do it with way the current industry is.

That would be great. Knowing how you tend to operate out of west PA taking a look at the aircraft wouldn't be too hard either. Let me know!

There are a few decent Falcon 10's on the market. I am not very familiar what the operating cost are like on the 10, but I have always heard good things about the aircraft. Good luck!

I will mention the Falcon 10 but they may be a bit much compared to a Citation for operating costs. The operating costs I have researched are ~$2500/hr.
