New Bid out at Southernjets

That's cool. Time to update my app again I guess in the optimistic hope I can bid by percentages instead of what doesn't furlough me.

I wouldn't mind flying the 330, but only with a line and at none of the bases that it's at.

How's that for "ain't gonna doowit!"? :)

Of which, over 5,000 will be retiring in the next decade!

:sarcasm:

Hell, if I COULD retire in the next decade, you bet I would. I don't actually WANT to fly until I'm 65. I really don't even want to fly at 60. I'd much rather retire in the 50-55 range if I can.

Under the old system, I'd have been fully vested at 52, but NooOoOOooooOOoOOoooOoOoo... :(

Anyway, it is what it is I guess.

What's funny is I just met a retired Delta captain last night who was eagerly seeking an entry level piloting job because, after 6 years of retirement, he couldn't take it anymore!! :D

I'm with you though, I'd much rather be retired at 50-55, but that's just wishful thinking in my case.

I saw a similar guy like that back in my cargo days. I was jumpseating on Mesa from NYL back to PHX, and the FO on the 1900 was a previously-retired guy from, IIRC, United. The CA was an early-30s-ish guy. Was interesting.

That's because he is one of those guys who lets the job define him. He relished the notion of being a Delta pilot and that defined who he was. No more, no less. He probably had no interests outside of Delta, never planned what he was going to do when he retired.

Me, I already have the boat picked out, and the day I retire, the last thing you will see is my white shiney rear sailing over the horizon.
