I'm wondering if Ameriflight is hiring? I saw an ad on aviationemployment.com saying that they're looking for captains on the pa-31 in PDX and Oak. 1180 TT. This was posted 11-25-09.

I understand that this could be a re-post on that website but thats usually on paid websites. Being that this is a free website, I don't see how it would benefit the webite to "recycle" ads. So to any Ameriflight pilots out there, are they hiring?

I've seen some posts out there how the company is not as good as it once was but could someone elaborate what its like working there? I'm currently CFI'ing with 1200TT 185 AMEL and looking to get on. I know my chances are low with as many pilots that are more experienced than I but I want to give it a shot. I have applied but not heard anything.

Thanks for any input.

Apply with a follow up. I know someone who got hired with similar times and experience.

I know their application was locked for a long time, and is now open, again, so that must mean something

Thanks for the encouragement. I was planning on doing the follow up as well, but question for you (well two actually).

1. I'm a newbie and am not very "experienced" with the whole hiring process. When I submitted my resume, how long should I wait before sending a follow up email, or would it be better with a follow up phone call? And either way, how long should I wait before doing the follow up?

2. The person you know who had similar experience you spoke of, how long ago was that that he/she was picked up?

Thanks

Mike

Yeah, I had a little trouble with the website to do the application/resume thing. At first it allowed me to only finish the first part of the app, but wouldn't allow me to submit flight times portion. But eventually it went through so here's hoping.

It has always worked the best to give a follow up call within a couple of business days and to call at around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Most aren't away from their desk at that time. Goal: put your name on the top of their list to call you.

I was suppose to be starting class at Ameriflight in Janurary but a local job came up, so i took that instead. However they told me they're expecting a class every month next year, but i dont know how much i believe that! Good luck!

Apply online. If you have problems with the online application, contact the recruiting department and ask for a faxed (or emailed) paper application. Obviously include your resume. That person was interviewed about a month ago. Just started flying the line.

Ameriflight has almost monthly been running classes.

Again, I'm a newbie to this world and I don't know what to expect. I have read some of the other threads about this company and am wondering whats so "wrong" with this company. Why are all these pilots quitting? If I were offered the job, I would be happy (I think). Pay doesn't sound too bad (of course it could be better) so I have to deduce that it has to do with management issues/QOL. But seeing as this would be my first job outside of CFI'ing, I would have no previous job to compare it to so maybe in my eyes it wouldn't be so bad??.

So could someone please tell me what they view as wrong/bad with this company? Thank you in advance.

I quit the first chance I got. I never was subjected to that much abuse in my life.
It may have been the base I was in, CVG, but unless that place did a 180 i'd never consider recommending anyone else to go there.

Well I warned you!:rotfl:

Yeah lots of people from "the company" are moving on to bigger and better even in this job market and economy!

You suckered me in.. :rotfl:

Oh well at least I'm back to flying planes rather than fueling them!

It's a stepping stone company and the company knows that. Management is quite aware that most people get time and get out. It could be a lot worse, but it could be better. Pay/QOL/over all happiness is pretty much enough to get by. But they are hiring so thats something to take a look at. As listed above, most of the hiring is due to people quitting or getting fired. They have expanded a little as well. PM for more details.

I may have been spoiled flying at Airnet pre-bayside, but I turned down the job there back in August for a few reasons. The pay was sub-par and the pay scale seemed somewhat arbitrary, no paid moving expenses, most of the flying was UPS feeder routes, and they bashed my former employer (airnet) in the interview to name a few. I am by no means telling people not to apply, but the place just wasn't for me.
