PSA hotel committee members are clowns

If it ain’t a Boeing, I’m not going. No choice.
Seriously.

Met a JCer who was overnighting at XNA for dinner. Can't believe they still put you folks up out there in the middle of nowhere with the only option for food being a shuttle into town. I feel bad for these flightcrews and find it rediculous that their ALPA hotel committee doesn't push the issue.

Just my thoughts. That, $2.00, and a ride into town will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Weak. :(

Sadly, a LOT of us get stuck in that hotel. It's not so bad if it's a highspeed or a RR overnight, but an 18 hour layover there is killer. In our case, there's no hotel language in our contract (nor was there in our "unsuccessful" TA), so even though we HAVE a hotel committee, it has no teeth.

That whole area sucks.

If you got to HPN avoid the Armonk Inn. Middle of nowhere, lousy service, and about 20-30 minutes from the airport. The only food is the crappy bar or a 20 min walk.

I don't know how they got the contracts but several airlines used them back when i flew into HPN a lot.

All about the bottom line.

Pretty much how the world is run.

Why does that area even have airline service?

I went to the head in the back one flight and it was 1100 at night on like a Wednesday, and it was full of account manager types (that is based on glancing at all the open .ppt on the laptop screens)flying in to give their pitches to Walmart.

Oh Zap.... :) I knew I liked ya man! Enough said. Sad thing is Skywest, American Eagle, PSA and Pinnacle I believe are all on that list. :(

Hotel Committees really don't have all the much say if the wording in the contract sucks.

Take Akron for example. Our hotel committee averages 12 complaints a month for that hotel (with 450 total pilots). In one month we had 35 complaints about the hotel.

We are still there. Hard to beat paying $15 a night for a room.

Well... (as a former hotel committee member) I feel bad for you guys. If I am around and am able to pick you and your crews up and take you into town for lunch or a drink it would be my pleasure. Ya'll know where to find me.

Eagle's most profitable flight is the LGA-XNA. I have been told it takes 2-3 people to break even.

We have four hotels in XNA, the one I think you guys are talking about is for overnights under 10 hours.

You got me...Should be all business jets.

Walmart and Tysons Foods.

Zap can't fly all the low and mid level Walmartites around.

Why does HPN need a Walmart? Can't these execs fly in on there business jets? I always laughed at the attitude people had flying in there on the Saab. Well if you so damn rich and important why aren't you in your business jet???

It's all fine to the company until someone gets mugged or shot.

Fortunately we have a lot of input on hotels and can refuse them if we feel it is that bad.

It took a couple of our FAs getting shot at (well, actually there was a drive by at the strip club across the parking lot, but some of the bullets went towards the hotel) to get out of our CLT hotel.

It is sad but unfortunately that is what it takes... The other way to get a hotel changes all the crews need to start calling in Fatigued because they couldn't sleep in an unsafe, dirty room etc...

The old Days Inn in FWA always made several people sick anytime they stayed there...Thank goodness they finally tore it down... I can't believe that owner was such an idiot to run it into the ground the way they did. They had a gold mine...Walking distance to an airport and the next nearest hotel was 20 minutes...
