A few pics from working as a aerial mapping pilot for air america. My first assignment was in Austin,TX, so i got a chance to snap a few cool pics.

Sorry for the picture quality, i'm dealing with a 5 year old camera, that desperately needs to be cleaned out.

More pics to come, as the season progresses.

My trip begins in N50988 with a ferry flight KDAB to KAUS. Departed 6pm arrived in Austin 4am next day :)

Nice Pics! Yeah Austin and San Antonio are usually pretty good with working you around traffic. with an occasional exception, like a couple days ago was climbing out in a Baron they passed us under an inbound SWA. We had 500 between us, but the SWA guys had to climb because they got a tcas alert. It would have made a great picture, wish I would have had my camera.
 
So whats the purpose of the long exhaust? Just a WAG at it tells me you are doing aerial mapping and they don't want spoiled pictures because of the exhaust heat?
 
not the rite thread but still... what's the actual job description of a aerial mapping pilot??? that too for an airline...:dunno:
 
lol I used to fly cross countries all the time between OK, TX, and KS. All those picture bring back memories of boredom:)
 
The bomber down at GTU is gorgeous. Too bad it wasn't there about 3 weeks ago. We were down there shooting Austin but didn't see anything fun.

Does EVERYBODY come and look at your plane with the long exhaust? We have one with the exhaust mod and it attracks people like a moth to a flame.

Yea that exhaust definitely gets a lot of attention. Its funny to have a captain that just got of his Gulfstream come to you and ask you about the plane... lol :)
