Delta Pilot tries to elude police (cont.)

Heard about this on the radio driving home. This guy is pretty well known around here, gives DC-3 training (type rating for $13k IIRC) & restores 'em.

Maybe he was doing the Veteran's day gig he did last year, when the story was a little different.

The radio news said he started to depart, realized he needed fuel, and demanded to be fueled. It isn't clear where the enforcement action began.

Not sure what could have happened to set this off.

He looks pretty old school so this is how I see this playing out.

Women Officer: Giving him some citation
Dude: Makes funny sexist remark about women police officer
Women Officer: Has to prove to the world that she is worthy of that position and tries to arrest him.
Dude: Shouts out another sexist remark and proceeds to start up his engines.
Women Officer: Calls for back-up w/ a resisting arrest and makes up all the rest to beefen up her case.
Dude: Finally gets out of the airplane
Women Officer: Tazes the guy because she believes he is a risk and slaps the cuffs on him

She was a city code enforcement officer. He liked to drive his vehicle on the airport surface . . .

Code Enforcement Officer...? If she's not making sense, or i disagree with her you can bet i'm not sticking around. Unless she's got a badge and a gun, she has no right to stop me. Not to be a rebel, but i won't get pushed around by someone on a power trip either.

And you will go to jail too. The smarter play is to assert your rights and refuse to speak with her before speaking to an attorney and see her in court. It's much better to be a defendant wearing a business suit as opposed to a defendant in a jumpsuit.

Either ask for an officer to come to the scene immediately or shut up and let cooler heads prevail.

Yeah, that.

If he started up his engines with her in close proximity, then that's a whole nother can of worms. Not to mention possibly trying to hit vehicles/people if that's true.

He's probably blaming Obama right now.

yeah, I'm guessing his initial "crime" was approaching the regime of rape and murder...:rolleyes:

I can almost see the power trip now.

This had been going on for a few days over a hangar/fuel bill. He was trying to get fueled for a charter op earlier in the week. Result was a couple of angry confrontations, one of which involved a romp or two over the runway with a vehicle, and a 911 call by the fbo people, all prior to today's events.

The code lady was apparently there to "investigate" the previous day or two activities / complaints. It doesn't sound like he endangered the code ladies, but he was defiant to them and the police.

The police ordered him out of the plane by radio, and when he got out he had his flight bag. They told him to drop it, he didn't, and predictably, he got the treatment.

ATP, CFI certs, of course now the FAA has to look into it. Looks like it's going to be a case of hazardous attitude adjustment.

As far as I know, he is. This is strange though. I know several people who have trained with him and they all say he's a great, down to earth, friendly guy. From what I've heard, this sounds rather out of character...

Perhaps. There are people that are great but as soon as something doesn't work right, all hell breaks loose. Kinda reminds of me of a flight school around here...

Good for him. These local city hall blow hards can eat . If some one is going to flip out on them it might as well be some one with a DC-3.

Let me take a wild guess and say that this flight school you speak of has a person of a sex which not male as their chief pilot.

There's definitely truth to that. Now, I spent most of my time in the central area of the state, but I'm pretty sure I can think of a couple places that comment could apply to...

In Park City KS, there was a code enforcement officer that was a little hitler too. Dennis Rader.
What I don´t understand is why the metermaid didn´t just cite him.
Not sure of the facts, but it seems like this may be a big overreaction. American cops tend to be dramaqueens.
