As fifty cent said.....it ain't my fault

I always enjoy it when people bitch about how much people bitch. It seems a bit hypocritical. This thread will definitely last longer than 4 days too:p In all honesty, at my airline the whole pilot group enjoys engaging in some good old fashioned bitching. I think it is part of the job sometimes. Of course, on Sunday, football is the featured topic but still sprinkled with bitching. I mean, I've just been off for the past 7 days but have to go back to work in the morning and I kind of feel like bitching about it. I guess the amount of bitching is inversely proportional to the forward progress in the industry so right now the load of bitching is just a bit heavy. Ohhhhh well. And I'm sorry, but the ONLY reason to go to Lakes is for the quick upgrade. When things stall out there, it's bound to get crazy.

Sorry bud, but theres only so much of you bitcher's I can take.
 
You could pay every pilot $200K/year and someone will find something to nag/complain about. It's our personalities. We think we are better. What we do is a great job. When I came to OH I knew what I was geting into. Very senior pilot group but it had great pay(for regionals) and great work rules. All that has been chopped to pieces by mngt/bankruptcy judges. Now I'm sitting on the bottom of the list on reserve. Still I'm okay with my choice. Someone mentioned that for every major captain there is an FO who would want your job. For every major FO there is a regional Captain who wants your job, and so on, and so on. Life is tough, grow some balls and appreciate what you have. Nothing is guaranteed in this world.

I agree, and what I've personally chosen is to go my own route in being financially independent. I don't trust any airline for my future, long term career stability. The only way to sustain a normal standard of living anymore is to find your own small business niche, and roll with it. Thankfully, having a aviation job that allows me the flexibility to have 20-22 days off per month so I can run my business.

This doesn't mean I wont fight the good fight in preserving this profession. You just have to be realistic sometimes and realize that if you are not the owner of the business, theres only so much of the pie that you will be able to take home.

Its just not sustainable to take more than is feasably possible. If you own your own business, the pie is entirely yours. Again, this doesn't mean we should all work for pennies and no benefits, just be realistic in that a regional captain ain't gonna be making 150K/yr.

I totally agree with what you said. My family is not surviving on my airline career. My wife owns her own business and it allows me to live my dream of flying professionally. I'm just trying to figure out when do I say enough is enough.
