How are you in a Merlin without a headset?? I lost the bateries in the Bose in a III-B on the downwind earlier this year and couldn't even think straight it was so loud. That, or I was just accustomed to the quietness before they went out!!

I actually do have a headset on, (in-ear type) I also use the Bose, and yes, when the batteries go down. . .MAN IT IS LOUD!!!!!!

the beeps are both the autopilot and the fact that during the test flight the pitch servo controller failed, so the system was telling us there was an issue. But if you fly metro's enough you get used to the trim horn.

Woah, nice stuff there. Its good to see that the Garmin stuff is making its way up into some bigger aircraft. Sure, they are nice to have in a PA-28, but they really open things up for something bigger, like has been shown here.

yeah, it is nice that Garmin came up with the 500 for the smaller aircraft. But Yes, it is really nice to have everything that the 600 gives us in the larger/faster/higher altitude planes. We can get so much information now and in a lot less steps than we did before. Great stuff. This is the first Metro that has the G600 in it. Most of these planes are used for cargo and so dont get a lot in the world of new upgrades, but this one has been corporate its whole life.

Chelton EFIS is the way to go, synthetic vision, terrain, taws, and its super durable. We beat the crap out of them and rarely have problems.

FWIW, I'm an Aviation Support Specialist at Garmin. It's awesome to see people so excited about the Garmin stuff that sits at my desk everyday. If you ever call in to Garmin Tech Support, ask for Drew.

OK, didn't notice that.... And I will also comment that it must be cool flying a glass Merlin. I fly right seat in a Merlin sometimes that is setup for exec flying, but the avionics are OLD with the exception of a 530.

No way, that's cool. I work (in the summer times) at the FBO at New Century (IXD) that does the fueling for Garmin. Lots of fun, looking at your airplanes, and seeing what's new before people know.

The best part is we get all of our own stuff and the new units to play with even before they are announced.....:bandit:

I always made sure that I glanced in the cockpits of everything while I was over there fueling, to see what was new. Saw the G500/600 about a week before they announced it at Oshkosh the other year, in Garmin's Mooney.
