Things to do in Wichita?

Old town, aviation museum west side of McConnell, musuems on the river.
See what is going on at century II or the colisuem north of town. They opened a new Mongolian barbeque at 21st and Ridge that is great.

As far as Hutchison goes, I think the fair is over but The guys that recommended the COMOSPHERE I think are making an understatement. It is a world class museum (smithsonian affiiate) that has more manned stuff from the USSR, outside of the uSSR. It also has the apollo X111 command modue and Gus Grissom capsule (Liberty Bell 7??) they recovered from the seabed 10,000 feet down and restored. An absolutey do not miss.

No sure your tast for Deer Hunting, but KS has some serious Whitetail hunting.

Putting my redneck back in the cage!

I don't think Willie C's is there anymore. I didn't see their big sign off of Kellogg last time I was there.
East Kellogg no, everything was wiped out for the 10 yr widening project. I think there is still one at Kellogg and west street near I235 and Town West mall.

edit: yeah it is still on the west side:http://local.yahoo.com/info-17994602-willie-c-s-cafe-bar-wichita

I haven´t been there in years, but I still think they have the drink yourself around the world with 100 beers program.

Definitely try Old Town. We did a little "bar crawl" there on a long overnight. Since I'm from Chicago, Old Chicago was not going to be a stop for us. :D

It was a depressed town, and you can tell the economy hit it hard. I asked a gate agent, "what is there to do in Wichita this evening?" Her reply: "Get drunk, that's what we do."

I'll be out at FlightSafety in Wichita for two weeks starting next week and was wondering if any of you have any recommendations on things to do or see while I'm out there. It doesn't look like there is much to see :dunno:
Mods, if this isn't the right place for this, move me on over.

You going to Lear school? I assume intial if it;s two weeks?

How about the Kansas Aviation Museum in the old terminal? Thinking of going there today.

I'm at the Hawthorne Suites across from the Beech field. Big, nice, fireplace, and full kitchen. Great for my stay over Thanksgiving!!

Right across from the Marriot downtown and next to old town, there's this bar/grill converted from an old gas station. You can still buy gas there, and it's still a convenience store, but the old garage area has been turned into a sports bar and grille. Can't remember the name though.

"Pump House" would be the name...

There really isnt much to do around Wichita but drink as has been said. Just like any big(ger) city, once you get passed all the 'attractions' its mostly who you find to hang out with after that to keep things interesting. I dont expect you'll make great friends in 2 weeks so you'll probably agree that Wichita is lame after your stay.
