Cirrus Vision SF50

I had the opportunity to watch a demonstration of the Cirrus Jet. Here are some pictures I took:

I don't know about you guys, but that fuselage looks awfully draggy. After some research, this thing only has 1,900 lbs of thrust. Something tells me this thing is no speed machine, at all. Heck, even the ugly Diamond D-Jet looks nicer than this.

In any case, those are some sweet pictures.

300 knots

That thing came to PDK last week and did a few low passes for the tower and for Epps. It was pretty cool to watch. Also, very quiet.

Max cruise speed is actually 315 in the D-Jet. 240 is the best range cruise speed.

I understand that. What I don't understand, is how a jet the fundamentally is bigger (SJ-50 versus D-Jet), an yet is going to go faster, on less thrust. Granted, I'm no engineer, but I don't think the SJ-50 is that much of a cleaner airframe to get it those numbers.

Think Piaggo Avanti P.180II.
