Birdstrike!

DPApilot

GUYSH! GUYSH! GUYSH!
Hit a flock of gulls on takeoff, lost some power in the right engine. Not fun on takeoff.

damn birds.

Glad it all came out alright. I smoked a few one time in the 172 on takeoff... luckily didn't affect anything but it was a mess to clean up.

damn birds.

While they have inferior technology, we have to respect they were in the sky first. If murderous events like this continue there will be no true bird flocks. Birds will only be found in special areas reserved for them. Deprived of their natural food source and traditional way of life, the birds will be forced to open casinos. Is that what you want, DPApilot?

J/K :) Glad it all worked out okay.

Wat?

I guess we'll be seeing your coworker on Dateline NBC one of these days?

He's not really the "Here I am naked with cool whip and a cat" kind of guy. But maybe one day he'll achieve that level.

Wow, Mike...IAA just is not having the best few weeks ever. Glad you're okay, but where were you taking off from? There aren't exactly too many FLOCKS of gulls around DPA this time of year. :)

Thanks, Mike. That was my brand new remote controlled bird. My buddy and I were trying to fly in formation at the same time until you came along.

I'll take cash or check.

DPA- Glad you came out of it ok.

Anyone ever see the pic of the C130 that struck a Deer while landing? I saw it a few years ago. We have Deer that cross our runway every once and a while. I am also scared to have a "Deer Strike".
