[modhat]This thread WILL NOT, and I repeat WILL NOT become an outlet for ANY "conspiracy theories" or whatnot on the 210. If you want to talk about the 210, talk about it in a different thread.[/modhat]

It is not my intent to squash discussion, only to keep this thread as Ben's memorial here.

Sad news. I always enjoyed his posts. He was one of the many members here who make this such a great place. Stay safe everyone.

RIP

I do not believe that when your time is up then your time is up in most circumstances such as this one. Do I think this could have been prevented? Yes, you betcha!!! How many 210s have to just fall out the sky before something is done about it?

I've been thinking about this all day and though I never met Ben, it hits very close to home in a very strange and unusual way from the past.

Not the time or the thread.

Just want to say that I am heartbroken about this tragic loss....I always appreciated Ben's sensibilities, and was always happy to see that face with the fishing pole and the fish.

sad...

How tragic. I never met the guy but have read alot of insightful and humorous posts by him. What a loss.

RIP.

"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds...and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of...wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, nor even eagle flew.
And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space...
...put out my hand, and touched the face of God."

at NJC, Doug said "You are NOT Ben Hill!"

Indeed, he was a pilot I aspired to imitate.
that's because you were not only representing yourself but also Ben as per photographic evidence...

who woulda thought?

How did this I miss this?

I'll miss all of what he contributed to this forum, JC will be a little bit dull without him. How could not love his aviator (pole in teeth with fish in hand), and his talks about weapons, pies, and aviation insight.

He will be missed. RIP.

Yeah that picture makes me pretty sad now.

I'm so ticked I didn't make more of an effort to meet up with Ben on his 20 minute HND layovers.

Drifting through the Internet in my idle moments it can be difficult at times to realize the scrolling alpha-numerics are not simply fiction - that the names are not simply characters in a novel. Jetcareers, however, is different. Although to my knowledge I've never met anyone here, it is obvious every time I login that there is a life behind every username.

The life of BDHill1979 was extinguished before his time. There are years of foregone moments that those who knew him will never share with him, and all of that leaves me saddened. I wish his loved ones strength in the time ahead.

Ben had two young kids, ages 1 and 2, and what bums me out most is that they'll never even remember him when they're older.

+1

Having an 8 month old, that was the first thing I thought of when I read the news. Second was that I need to finish my will, just in case...
