Simple process, here, really.

Take whatever you could spare out of your paycheck to take a really hot woman out on an expensive date. Assume she's waiting to be impressed, as she hasn't so far, and the likelihood of your getting laid.. or even a second date.. are slim to none. Plus she said something that pissed you off once, and now you're not sure if you'd do her even if only to get the anger out.

Now, take however much money you'd be willing to put into that, and blow that on gambling. Not a red cent more.

If you win money, go you. Repeat process as necessary. If you like, go to random Vegas strip bar and help put braces on some stripper's kid (or pay off boob job if she just started). Don't buy into the whole "I'm in school" shtick. Assume the need for therapy for daddy issues overrides, and will be avoided anyways.

or..

... Blow on horrifically priced alcohol in the actual bars in Vegas.

or..

Buy a ticket or two to the Cirque du Soleil show 'O' at the Bellagio. Learn to understand why they call it 'O' when you find out what tickets cost. 'O' is what you'll say.

If you need to know more, find me in Vegas. I'll be the guy reeking of vodka trying to find out if the girl sitting alone at the bar is

A) actually a regular girl and just alone for the moment, therefore ripe for some skeevy Quagmire-like approach

or

B) a hooker out to spread herpes to the world, therefore to be avoided.

Bear in mind, attempting to spend money at any establishment in Vegas I have previously visited may or may not bear fruit, as the possibility it has been torn down for some reason is likely.

Re: Sahara, etc, ad nauseum.

(Raises glass of bourbon and Coke) Cheers! See ya there, mate!

Thats all you're gambling with? You should have more! I mean, you ARE CalCapt, not ColgFO.

:D

I am thrilled to gamble with $30 and walk away winning $10 or $20. If I lose my $30, I just figure it wasn't my night. I am an average at best gambler and simply limit my losses by not taking more money than I can tolerate losing.

Such a negative attitude!! See it as taking money to win! :D

I'll take about $1,000 to the craps table, though it is unlikely I'll lose more than $100 of it. (I'm sure I'll knock back $100 in free drinks, so I won't feel that bad...)

Do you think if you keep saying it I will believe it? I hear that Vegas is one of the few places you can drive into town in a $40.000 car and leave on a $300,000 bus. Now that's winning...:insane:

yup! no job yet

if you had plans with the dough, no worries... i won't step in your way :)

LOL!

That'd be the first time I'd heard a 'Dear Dough' letter written as a love letter or some sort of proposition.

Look on the upside.

Now when we tell you "we really screwed up... we lost Doug.." it won't be on the phone. Har. :D

Bad way to start a thread.

You get the best odds with blackjack or the sports book.

The casinos set the odds for the sports book so that they've got equal amounts of money on both sides. That way, what they do is take the loser's money, put it in your pocket, and keep some of it for themselves.

Plus, gambling on sports is super cool because you get to watch the game on super big screens, you get cocktails for free, and you can make some money in the end!

If you play blackjack according to the strategy cards you can get at any casino shop or online -- and the dealers will kind of guide you along as will your fellow players -- the house edge is less than one percent. It's still a losing proposition for you, but if you get a few lucky breaks, you can come out ahead.

But regardless of what game you choose to play, adopt the mindset of Herm Edwards and play to win the game. I've never understood how so many people can go to Vegas and say, well, yeah, I lost x dollars, but hey, it's Vegas so I expected to lose.

Me? I get pissed off if I lose. Yes, I know that Vegas is founded on people losing money but there are winners, too. And I get pissed off if I'm not one of them.
