You may be confusing this with liquid oxygen which is used in some military and other special use airplanes. LOX takes special equipment and training to handle safely.
Aviators Breathing Oxygen is pure gaseous O2 compressed and stuffed into a bottle. You can treat it like any other compressed gas bottle. Which is to say with great care. They should always be stored standing up, and secured to protect the valve assembly on top.
Interstingly there is no longer any difference between, welding, medical, and aviation O2. They all are pure O2 without any moisture. More than a few airplane owners fill their planes with gas from medical or welding suppliers.

I asked the line guys where they get their tanks filled.......welding supply company. Good thing its $40 a tank, its not like oxygen grows on trees or anything......wait a minute.. those bastards

A real answer would be nice. Can I assume that know body knows how a little green aviation bottle is cared for and stored???:insane:
I know where the bottle is in the airplane and I know how to ask to have it re-filled. If properly trained, I could probably do it myself.
That's about all I know though. As for care, I'd assume just don't put it near an open flame or heat source since oxygen burns pretty well. Other 'n 'at...beats me.

In the C210:
It stays bolted down in the empennage, comes out every 4 years for a static test, is refilled through a port in back.
Care and Storage? hell if I know.
