Baptism by fire...and Jet-A

So what companies do you guys work for that are currently working the line? I'm at Wilson Air Center in Charlotte.

The hawker lavs have to be the worst just because of the doughnut you have to remove. And when it's 90 degrees plus that lav cart smell is enough to make you vomit. I try to make myself busy when the guys come in with the removable potties.

And yes, those NATA videos suck. I'm coming up on one year so I have to watch them all over again for recurrent training. And then there is a 120 question test I have to take as well.

MD500 was my worst enemy when I worked line.....always wore some Jet A after fueling one of them. What airport are you at?

:yeahthat:
I vote for a collective piece of writing for JCs home page on line service.

I'm up for it. We could even ask if Doug wants it up on the main page somewhere. Or we could at least sticky it to the top of the line service forum.

Wow, be thankful for that. I work at a Class C airport and we start new guys at $8.50/hr. I'm a "team leader" (shift supervisor more or less) and I haven't broke $10/hr and probably never will.

I hope you're getting decent tips. Shift supervisors were I worked had to be making at least $18/hr.

Eurocopters are the worst about giving you a Jet-A bath. The A-Star, not so much, but everything else is horrible. The Jet Rangers with those weird adapters that allow them to carry a few more gallons will get you as well.

One of the reasons I disliked fueling helos is because we had to change the nozzle from the j-spout to the cylindrical one. The adapter never fit quite right and more fuel would go on the ground than in the gas tank. Most of the time I just used the j-spout anyways.

R-44/22s on the other hand were extremely friendly to fuelers.

You only make $10/hr as a shift supervisor? That has got to hurt.

Yeah, we definitely should. I can start writing it, but I'm pretty busy with school so far.

And someone asked...But I work at Atlantic Aviation at KILG (Wilmington, DE) which is a Class D airport.

You at Aero?

Yep.

I ended up doing a lav service on the Hawker. No donut??? Weird. The guy helping me asked the pilot 3 times if it had one, and it even said "no donut" on the port. We get $10 for every lav service we do as an incentive. No one told me until after I had done a couple. Doh!
