Is there even a UAL RFP?

I am confused, everyone thinks that United has put out a rfp for flying, ASA seems to think they already have won it but I have heard nothing but rumors about United flying for anyone. I am more worried about United going under causing more pilots to lose jobs. Does anyone in the "know" know if this thing even exsists and what is it for? UAL does not permit CRJ 900's so is it for 700's?

No 70+ seaters for UA, at least yet............ But the flying will most likely be for CRJ7s and maybe replacement flying for 50 seat contracts that are up, Mesa and Chautauqua.

GOJETS will win this. They still have planes coming and pleanty of UAL furloughs whom are in classes currently and awaiting them... :)

Can you imagine what would happen job loss wise if UAL went under? I just thought about the numbers between all the regionals invloved and everything else....staggering!

I would really be surprised if it's anyone else.

The problem is Gojet management is having trouble with the other side of the house with Trans States. They're under one management so it would be kind of difficult to sustain a long union battle at TSA due to no growth while at the same time growing Gojet. Especially now where TSA is in the final stages before they are released for a strike.

Just thinking aloud here, but if ASA thought they won it, why furlough.....

Eh, I'll believe whoever says they won it when I see a "United airlines is pleased to announce our new/expanded agreement with...." press release. Until then, it's the same rumor I've been hearing for 3 1/2 years.

I think it's pretty obvious. We have NO flying for the 20, 200's and we have no other flying coming anytime soon. Hopefully the furloughed folks will find better jobs and be making lots more money so they can flip the bird to ASA when recall comes in 3 years. Until then, those of us still employed will enjoy 20+ red arrow days each month, inefficient 18 hour 4 days with early starts and late finishes and this stupid BS rumor of IAD flying that we have heard around here for years.

But...you have DUTY RIGS!!!! Sorry, when our TA came out without duty rigs, everyone started talking about how we should vote "no" based on that alone since duty rigs would fix all our problems....

Because the flying won't start til Spring 2010 for whoever wins it.....

Isn't the usual saying that it doesn't make sense to furlough for less than a year or so. We're only about 7 months away from Spring '10. If the ASA chiefs were so sure that it was in the bag, I'm sure they'd keep those guys around.

Precisely!!! This in itself basically assures us that we have nothing concrete on the table for at least a year. Not cost effective to furlough for that short of period.

18 hour 4 days are our schedules at PSA. That's NORMAL! You will from time to time get the 15 hour 4 day. :) Oh its great to be a wholly own. And whom ever asked the question about furlough. For management to say a furlough was indeed cost savings it has to be a minimum of 18 months. There's an equation out there as to how they came to that conclusion. But I can guarantee no company furloughs without the intention of making it at least 18 months. :(

You were inactive for. . . < 18 months right?

:D

Don't forget the scheduled 14 hour 6 leg days that are followed by 9 hours scheduled rest. I also hear 5 day trips are part of some lines next month. I'm actually starting to look forward to September to step away from the BS for a while and almost don't care when/if recalls occur.

I don't blame you. ASA is a clown show these days.

If someone "in the know" posts anything at this point they are subject to massive lawsuits and even possible jail time. RFP's are under nondisclosure agreements.... That being said there is a "timeline" to go with rumors and Oct. 1 has some significance in the mesa situation- there is where the rumor started. Keep in mind an RFP is a REQUEST for proposal- call it a "quote".

Clear as mud? Good, goodnight.

Want to get together and drink some beers?

As Bwatz indicated, the clown show will most certainly continue.

No offense, but if McDonald's announced a new breakfast sandwich, would it excite you? I know, I know.

TRUST ME! If there was ANYWAY the company could have gotten away with it they would have. Fact of the matter is if they did not recall they would have given some flights the ax this summer due to lack of crews. Fact is they knew when they furloughed they furloughed too many but did not want to admit it. I was shocked they finally came through and recalled some. :)

But I will say since they have had to admit they were wrong once, I HIGHLY doubt they will recall more before 18 months. Just a guess.
