A cautionary tale regarding internships...

...make sure you create a class schedule and that you hold on to the class schedule until the latest you can/when you begin the internship. You never know when the new leadership may nix the internship program (cough rhymes with GetJets cough). Keep your options open even if it's a "done deal."

I'd imagine it has to do with the $500,000,000 dollar loss they posted for the first six months of the year.

Yep, however, had Santulli not left I believe it would have been a different story. Sokol is a numbers man; live and die by them.

Rumor mill has it they are 100 planes heavy. But in any case, the internship program got axed, and it's not GoJets. An outfit out of CMH.

The right thing to do would have been hold onto the fall interns (considering we had done all paperwork and drug screens) and stop the program come spring, however, life isn't always fair. Gotta make some lemonade...

Two months ago the pilot group worked together to avoid roughly 500 layoffs. It was amazing to see the senior guys work so hard to help the junior people. Hopefully they can make it through the downturn with out laying any people off. My mother is 300 pilots from the bottom.

They just took voluntary furloughs I believe... Just getting ready to start busting a move on the north side of CMH too! Looking forward to the growth there to help out the Central Ohio economy!

I was talking to one of their pilots today about that. Apparently it was 700 pilots out of 2900 that were going to get the axe. 75% of the pilots took some sort of consession (move from 7on/7off to 6on/8off, 5on/9off etc, LOAs, early retirements etc) for those 700 to keep their seats. If there is any pilot group that other pilots should envy, it should be the guys at Netjets.

A union that is actually, for the most part, unionized.

It was much more than just voluntary furloughs. There were many options, 9AT touched on a few. I know a few guys who took a three year LOA, they are recieving benefits and 33% of their pay for the three years.
