If you are talking about RKAS, they are a bit on the expensive side, but worth it. The instructors are some of the best people I have ever met and will go above and beyond for you. After coming back from flying I have sat around with them for hours just listening to them tell stories of different flying experiences from crop dusting to charter to interesting situation that occurred while instructing. They genuinely enjoy instructing and just flying. They arent just building time to go fly for a regional, they are lifetime instructors.
The only places I have had that same feeling were Wings field and Vansant. Wings is a great airport, everyone I have ever talked to there has been friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Vansant is a great little grass strip on the top of a hill that you take a twisty dirt road to get to. They teach tail wheel, acro and glider flying.

haha, well let me remind you guys that we currently live in New Orleans... I can't imagine that it could possibly be any worse than here. People here, for the most part, (not to offend anyone) are rude, and uneducated. The housing is extremely overpriced since Katrina (especially compared to the typical income here). Car insurance here is almost triple what I paid in Arkansas. It's dirty, flood prone, the cockroaches are the size of small animals. At Christmas people have decorations out in bright green healthy grass in 70 degree weather (obviously that bothers me a lot). It stinks here. Although we are surrounded by water, there is no where good to swim. Public schools here are such that it wouldn't even be an option for our kid when he's of age. And you wanna see bad drivers? Move to a place where they have drive thru daiquiris on every corner. We've been behind people in traffic with their windows down and even with our windows up, could tell that wasn't a cigarette they were smoking. Oh and left turns here aren't that common either, they have u turns past every intersection so that you can turn around and take a right. Again, I can't imagine that it could be much worse. At least there we'll have some family nearby and some fun and historical places to visit that sadly I've never had the chance to visit before. I'm still excited. Don't rain on my parade! 
Try Macdan Aviation at Essex County Airport in Fairfield. I take my sport pilot training there in the Sportstar. I also heard there are 2 Skycatchers that are going to becoming to Lincoln Park Airport at Aero Safety Training flight school around the end of 2009 and early 2010. If you want to to sport pilot training a few flight schools in NJ has it.

By the way, the only option for flying around New Orleans is Lakefront airport with only two schools. The cheapest rental goes for about 100 Dollars for C-152, about 125 for C-172 solo. The Seneca I flew cost me 375 with an instructor, they charged me additional .5 of ground each time whether I had it or not. Same for 152 and 172. I had it here people, I really had it here. I don't expect to go to a place with less options and higher prices than this. For all the money I spent here I could have gone to some Ivy league flight school in Florida or California and get a better training as well.

Man, you'll love it. NJ has it all, except the dessert, and you're a hop skip and a jump from so many places within a few hours drive.
Beaches, Snowboarding, Flying, Hiking, Bike Trails, NYC, Philly, we're not THAT far from Maryland or Boston etc etc. I don't think I would trade it for anything, except cheaper housing.
Down south, its not as expensive as up north where I am at and the houses are nicer.

Stop ruining the mood pullup. As far as I care housing can cost a million dollars, doesn't matter, I can live in government housing meaning all utilities and rent included in my housing allowance anyway. At least it seems I'll have more choice as far as flying goes, and car insurance just can't be worse than here I'm sure. I used to live in Virginia and everything was helluva lot better than here. New Orleans can loosely translate in my dictionary as "very bad luck"

New Jersey is number 1, Louisianna is number 8. When you come to NJ, bring your car and bring your Visa because we don't like cheapskates and we don't take American Express.

Fort Dix is very close to the border of PA cheaper, nicer, less corruption, lower taxes and no circles!
What can you say about a state that has Newark, Jersey City, Trenton, and Camden all within its border.....
However, as someone else mentioned before, it is a great location. You can be to DC in 3 hours, NY in an hour, Philly in 45 mins, Boston in 4 hours, there are some good mountains to ride, or ski if your into that sort of thing, the beaches are not terrible. I am partial to Cape May, which has a great airport (WWD) with a museum on site or you can fly into Ocean City (26N) have a great cheap breakfast at the on site diner and walk to the beach.
