Moving to New Jersey

Going to Fort Dix/McGuire area. Does anyone know of any good flight schools in the area?

:yeahthat: I'm sorry OP

Don't move to the republic of New Jersey with all of the clueless yuppie suburban housewives, move over to the outskirts of Northeast Philadelphia - they got a great class D airport with cheap rental rates...

I've looked into that one, looks interesting, I hope it's not too long of a drive in traffic.

Flying W - N14; it's about 40 mins from where you will be if you're in the Ft. Dix area in Lumberton, NJ. It's where I rent from when I go home to visit my parents. Decent aircraft in rather good condition. Prices are reasonable, too.

And have fun on my old stompin' grounds. :)

Okay, why is everyone so sorry for us moving to New Jersey?! It can't possibly be worse than New Orleans. I'm actually really excited.

Skidz,

I am NJ born and breed. Moved away for a couple of years but I live here now. I am about 40 mins from Dix. I use to drill there for my reserve weeekends. I fly out of KBLM, which is about 40 mins from Dix with no traffic. I am taking my flight lessons with Eagles View Aviation. BLM has a LOOOONG Runway and the people who fly around here are good people.

Let me know if you need any more info.

I did a couple of years in the can, it wasn't terrible. My whole take on living in Jersey is that it wouldn't be so bad if you were a multi-millionaire.

$1,000,000.00 home in NJ = $300,000.00 home in MI (roughly)

As for the dirtyness and the rude people - usually people who say this have either only looked out of the airport windows on an EWR layover or have never been south of Long Branch.

EDIT: say goodbye to pumping your own gas, too.

Where I grew up in Jersey was beautiful. Summers in Margate City ain't too shabby! Oh, and not pumping your own gas is pretty SA-WEET. Especially because you don't have to tip the dudes (much)... They get paid for the gig.

Herb's fleet is cheap for a reason...

Trenton, Trenton-Robbinsville and BLM would be much better bets. I'm not even all that fond of Flying W, only because of the DPE there.

Thong beach baby!! I might be heading out to Maynard's tonight! :rawk:

HAHA. You're not kidding! That sad thing is that it's always the old leather-skinned women that wear the thongs. Lol.

Actually, I've never been on that beach, but I have heard about it. And man, there is nothing like a Ventura's Pellati Pesto pizza. YUMMY!!!

I paid $101/hr for a 2003 Tiger the last time I rented there. It still looked and flew like was brand new. I don't know of anywhere else that I could rent a newer than '00 4-place single for $100/hr. I've never flown his trainers because I don't have a need to rent a trainer these days so I can't vouch for their condition. But the plane I flew was reasonably priced and very nice.

The flight school at Robbinsville has average looking trainers for a bit more money. The flight school at KTTN is only for pure Mac fans who like getting a good product and don't mind paying a small fortune for it. Their 172's are older, but some of nicest rental 172's I've ever flown. They're also far and away the most expensive rental 172's I've ever flown. Too rich for my blood, so I go elsewhere even though I five miles from the airport.

I stopped in at BLM for fuel a couple times while doing the Hudson thing with students. Pretty cool airport. Have never had to taxi up a hill like that though. That was different.
