In a couple months I'll be MEI/II with 530TT/140ME/100+night/300 PIC XC.

My goal is to make this a career--something with the prospect of stability. Left seat & $30-50k for 15 years with a regional or freight company would be great, as would a salaried CFI job. Stability is key.

Question: I've got about $10k left from my flight training loan. To best reach my goal--and before getting a CFI job--should I:

1) Buy multi time to reach 200 hours ME?

2) Buy single time to increase TT quickly?

3) Get a type rating later?

4) Save it for  ?

I appreciate your suggestions!

That's tough since no one is really hiring right now until you get 1200 TT. I'd vote save it but that's just me.

I vote for #4

Then network and CFI and meet people. I'm amazed how many people get hooked up by random folks walking into a flight school.

YMMV

Oh, beer money is never a bad thing to have.

How about option...5) give it back to the lending company so you have less to pay back.
Paying down debt is always a great idea. In this case, look into putting the money into an account like BajtheJino suggested. Which makes more fiscal sense?

I would definitely save it........are you flight instructing right now? I think that's the best way to go and probably one of the only ways to go right now. You're a MEI....just instruct in a multi....

Give back. It's not your money, it's a debt for flight training. If you do something other than that you are probably violating the conditions of the loan, which could then be called back at any time. Give it back and get out of debt!

The "loan" is from a refinanced mortgage, so there are no strings attached to it.

Thanks, everyone, for all your helpful suggestions!

Looks like the consensus is to save the cash and find a flight instructing job--preferably at a busy airport with twins, lots of students, charter, and cushy pilot-lounge chairs.

i'd save your money. If you're already going to have your MEI, you'll build time that way with regards to the multi front. As for buying single time, I say just instruct. you can get 100 hours in a month if you bust your hump before the fall sets in, and youll be paid for it.

The biggest question is what do you want to do and why?

Odds are, you're going to do that anyway regardless of what anyone here says.

Stability is key.

You sure you want to work in this bidness?

If so, another couple hundred hours is going to be of marginal value to you. Might as well start getting paid for it, and pay your loan back. Or, works too ;)
