LAX parking lot is airline workers' home away from home

Buffeted by their industry's turbulence, airline employees save money by living part time in a motor home colony at LAX.

Nothing new.... Simmons guys used to camp out in RVs in the employee lot at ORD long before I even worked there.

LOL my brother lives there

I've always thought that an RV would be a great alternative to an apartment, especially in as a crashpad.

But, while it is nice that they have this option that likely saves them a fair amount of money, it sucks that have to take advantage of it out of necessity.

I'll be honest... If I had the money to do this in Newark, I would in a heartbeat. I could have my own comfortable living space, and if I had to transfer bases, I could make a road trip out of it. What an awesome idea.

It's not as bad as it must sound. My bro is by no means poor. In fact he does better than me, financially. He even owns a house in Memphis. He was going to move there, but may stay in LA. He has an RV that is $200,000 brand new. I think it cost him $30,000 and it's pretty nice. He's got quite the set-up over there.

There were a few folks in ORF doing with, they actually used it as a mini-crash pad. I know a guy who lives in an RV full time to save $$ as well.

Well you guys can forget this EVER happening again now that these media clowns got a hold of this. You can always see the RV's on short final in LAX. Everyone knew what was going on, but as long as the whistle wasn't blown, it was ok.

Another step down.

I sensed 30 years ago I would end up as a Fulltime Rv'er.
It is one heck of a step up from full time trucking, IMO.

Wow, that's one hellava deal.
