XC suggestions?

Tld

Waffles Brah.
So I need to build some time and I'm thinking of making several overnight trips this summer. So far I've put Page, AZ on the list, but was wondering if anyone had suggestions for some great overnights within a day's flight (in a 172) of northeastern NV (Elko). There are some obvious ones, but if anyone knows a great, lesser-known, out of the way place, let me know...(and I'm not too proud to sleep in the plane, but have to land it on a man-made surface per the insurance). Thanks :)

(oh and if anyone wants to go...)

Come up here to Idaho and check out Sun Valley and McCall! If you can make it over to Oregon, fly into Bend/Sunriver/Redmond area. Plenty of nice places in NorCal.... Do the Bay Tour around SFO and check out Half Moon Bay airport.

I'm kind of in the same boat... er, plane. Things get a little scarce east of the Inland Empire area. I'm always looking for new adventures though, shoot me a PM if you need a flying buddy.

If you can make it to the Junction City, KS area I can probably get you a ride in this:

I always tell people to go to West Yellowstone, MT (KWYS). Probably about 3-4 hours in a 172 from Elko. They have a really nice campsite on the field that costs only like $6 a night (and I think they waive that if you buy fuel) and rental cars available, the park entrance is about a mile and a half down the road.

A must do in my opinion.

That's a good idea! I didn't realize it was that close though. Great time of year to go there as well.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'm excited to begin living like those retired people who just fly around all summer...I've done a bit in the bay area, definitely going to head up to West Yellowstone and Sun Valley (if I can find a spot to park between all of the G5's I hear are clogging the ramp this week), though KS looks pretty tempting too ;) keep the suggestions coming! thanks.
