College? (CLE area) Help!

You are right go to 15G if:

You want a suicidal chief pilot that thinks the regulations don't apply to him. He flew for like 6 months without a medical and said it was because he forgot and someone the FSDO ok'ed him on it.

Airplanes that are maintained so poorly you wonder how they even stay together on steep turns.

A owner that is so senile he doesn't know an airplane from his...

--------------------

As you can see I have publicly spoken against this airport on the internet and that is why they are black balling me. They have a couple annoying kids many with more money then brains. I am pretty sure that 2 of the 3 will die by career end due to their stupidity in not only the air but also generally in life.

I am not going to name any names on a public forum but there are others on this forum that agree with me on 15G and I can get you in contact with them.

Rid yourself the headache of 15G by paying a little more if any and go to Medina where I have heard nothing but good things.

You need get yourself under control. Skypark is an awesome place. I got my private and CFI there. Several astronauts learned to fly there. No place is perfect but their planes are perfectly safe. You are making a fool of yourself.

To the original poster....

I went to Kent State and graduated in 06 with a Aeronautics degree. I did my flight training ALL over. I went to Skypark (15G) , American Winds (akron Fulton), Skymates (Dallas/Ftworth), Kent State, and also the FBO there at Kent states airport. I've also flown freight, charter, scientific research, air medical, international, etc. So I can give you a pretty darn good perspective if you like on your options. Check your PM's for my number.

If you just want the short answer. Do NOT go 130K in debt. Dont even go 100K or 70 or ....

Go cheap, you wont regret it.

Clocks, where are you based?
and how helpful was kent with getting your job at Xjet?
I was CLE based until I got furloughed last year.

I wouldn't say Kent "helped" get the job, I mean no one there walked in my resume or anything. But then again I didn't need anyone to since I did the internship at xjet...which was through kent (and a lot of other schools), so that helped.

Does anybody know anything about the program Kent State has with Continental Express?????

I am told that Kent State's COA Bridge Program, you are required to get your private all the way up to CFI or II, attend some extra class, internship, and reduced hiring minimums?

Someone who is/currently in the program would probably have better information. I know you are definately required to get your private at Kent State. I tried to transfer my ratings into there and could not so I decided elsewhere.

I got my PPL-CPL through there. Place is a joke, just trying to help a brother not make the same mistake I did. Save yourself the headache and go to Medina.

–verb (used with object), verb (used without object) To move or distract from the main subject or course. :insane:

I appreciate all of the "feedback" regarding skypark, i'd just like to acknowledge the more helpful responses, for lack of a more polite term. Honestly I have a hard time believing that skypark is a horrible place. Jhugz: I've actually flown with you before. Seemed like you had a pretty good head on your shoulders but. Come on. Look how many pilots that place is cranking out. Any plane can have maintenance issues. Granted, some places may have a better maintenance record than others, but I've heard more good than bad about that place. Basically the only negative feedback i've come across is from people with salty attidudes because they had a run-in with one or more persons at the airport. I'm sorry if it didn't work out for you but.. I was just down there today. I obtained the phone numbers of a few instructors down there who sound like pretty nice people who have a lot of experience. When it comes down to it, I'd probably rather fly with a very experienced instructor on a... less than perfect airplane, than fly a plane with an inexpereienced Instructor.

man, now i'm starting to get sidetracked.

At any rate, over the past few weeks i've been looking into the area community colleges like LCCC. Probably what i'll end up doing is staying at home, copmleting the bulk of my training at oh... maybe skypark :) , and obtaining a bachelor's degree from LCCC (yes, you can do that through the University Partnership they have with 8 ohio univiersities), or else transfering somewhere after about 2 years of LC. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for all of the help everyone, especially Propilot and those whom i've spoken with via PM. Private messaging. The act of carrying on a conversation Behind Public Eyes. Just throwing that out there in case anyone wanted to initiate an extensive b**ch session.

Thanks!
Cody.

Why does everyone forget there are scholarships out there? Each college admissions/financial aid center has university money for students instate and out of state students granted you have good grades and credentials (High school/college GPA, SAT/ACT, extra curricular activities). Dont let the numbers right off the bat make you look the other way, in fact, ask with a continuing interest about free money available. Anything is possible
