I've been offered an opportunity to teach ground school to an ROTC high school class. I'm still a few months off from my CFI, but I looked up the requirements for obtaining my AGI and IGI and the only requirements are to take the FOI knowledge test, then bring it to the FSDO and they will give me the endorsement? Is that correct? I'm currently a Multi-Commercial pilot with IFR rating.

I just want to verify this before I go take the CATS, I do not need a sign off from an instructor to take the FOI correct?

Thanks

you don't need an instructors recommendation for the written tests but you do need to have the FIA (flight instructor airplane) test score and the FOI score before you head out to the FSDO. Then they will issue you an AGI. If you

The FIA test does not cover for the GIA (ground instructor advanced) test. You will need o take both the FOI and the GIA exams. (you'll need the FOI test anyways). No instructor endorsements needed, just take the two written results to the FSDO and an 8710 to the FSDO.

For the IGI, do I have to retake the Instrument airplane written?
