Yeah I'm sure every pilot group out there wants to get drafted from being a spectator to being another fighter the AAA/HP USAPA cage fight, death match!:chair:

Consolidating with an ALPA carrier would provide loads of entertaining threads and I would imagine the complete banning of Velo and PCL/ATN.

Careful what ya wish for, Dougie. Might wake up, walk to the office and have Bedford telling you to take a hike while he tries out your cushy chair. :)

I think United is still on the table. Tilton want's nothing more than to sell the place and walk away with a killing and by know, I think the line employees over there would be happy to go through a merger if it meant the end of the Tilton Reign. With the courts approving DAL-NWA the precedent has been set for a merger of that size. If the credit markets open in the next year or so, I'd expect to see Parker trying to put together another buy out with outside money.

With United's ALPA, plus the 1800 or so AWA guys I would think USAPA would be done. At that point could they be readmitted to ALPA and the Nic award finalized, or do you think the situation will be decided sooner than that?

They'd go ALPA, but Nic would probably mean little; they'd have a third list to integrate into this whole mess.

Plus United is about to have what? 1,000 guys on furlough?

I think there would be a lot of important issues that would be discussed before any of that would happen. A third list would not be the largest of issues here either. Fact of the matter is there would be enough ALPA pilots on both property they would do things right and it would go with merging the list via the court order. Something like the DAL/NWA way, and believe it or not, I personally think it would go a lot smoother.

The guys on furlough are the hard topic here. I would not be surprised if there is a clause in both contracts that say, "Current pilots on property cannot be furloughed due to a merger" or something along those lines. Thus the guys on furlough would be on furlough and recalled when their new number came up. Who knows. Wishful thinking perhaps. However its made sense and still does, that a USairways and UAL merger would work. For the most part different markets and it would minimize the airline industry down to FOUR which would be a great help for ALL the airlines.
