Hello everyone,

I want to become an air traffic control specialist but have no experience or education on it. My fear is that the school takes too long and I will be turning 29 this November.

Does anyone know when the next posting is for the public without have graduated from an AT-CTI program is?

Also what is the best resource or book I can purchase to help me study for the test?

I appreciate all your responses and help with this.

Not to be blunt or anything but...

hey you FOL toteing, class date wielding turd! answer the mans question!

or ill do it *shrug*.

the next pubnat is thought to come out next month. just watch ASAP like a hawk!

as for studying material, you dont need any yet. when you get approved to take the ATSAT go buy the "green book" i forget the actual name of it but it has some software that could help you on your ATSAT.

other than that you better hope they streamlined the process because your only leaving 2 years to get in.

:yup::laff::D:yeahthat:

I hadn't made a post about "utilizing the search feature" so I figured this would be the thread to do it in.

However, ferret is kind of right. You don't need to study for anything. Just apply for the next PUBNAT that comes out and go buy a bulk supply of PATIENCE and FAAtorade from your local drugstore. You'll need it.

I didn't study for anything regarding the AT-SAT, but that was back before too many people really knew what was on it.

Either way, read through some of the threads in the Application Process sub-forum and that will give you a good idea of what to expect.

BE WARNED! There are a LOT of rumors going on in these threads, so take what you read with a grain of salt. Unless of course, it's posted by me. :D

I wish you the best of luck in your wait for gainful employment with the FAA.

Hello. You only need to get through part of the process before you turn 31. Schooling is not part of that process. You need to apply, be selected to take the test, then do a couple other things and get your TOL...temporary offer letter I think it's called. This is the offer they make you contingent on your ability to pass the rest of the stuff and pass school. You should have plenty of time.

Good luck!

No, you are referring to the academy, which you only get to attend if you are picked up by the FAA. But in order to get a job offer you have to either a) attend an approved CTI program and get the college degree and then apply to the FAA, or b) apply to a public job announcement (PUBNAT) and take the AT-SAT and score well, inorder to be picked up.

Two different ways to get to the same endpoint. One involves college and the other doesn't. However with the rumors that the PUBNATs may be winding down, there is less of a chance of getting picked up Off The Street now.

So this thread is literally right above yours. You wouldn't even have had to use the search function.

"let's see...I'm on this new forum and I am specifically looking for when the next PUBNAT is. Oh my gosh! There it is. A thread called 'The next PUBANT is...'"

Since your looking for any advise we have to offer, my advise to you is to start reading. Read it all. Yeah it's a lot. You have all the time in the world. Your answers are here. All of them. How do I know?...well...because I'm all out of questions.

Don't worry, you will eventually be led down the path of cutting others down because of waiting for the freaking FAA.

WOH? What does that stand for? Is that some sesame street thing? Nice picture you have up there buddy. Listen my daughters belong to a girl scout troop, maybe I can recommend you if you would like to join. You can start as a daisy and sell some cookies for them....LOL

So before today I did not know what PUBNAT was. Thanks Ferret for mentioning the green book which is really helpful. I am new to this, and by the way thanks for the grammar comment "aviatorzz".....Did you figure that out all by yourself?

Forum Rules

1. Keep your posts professional.
You never know who'll end up as your new chief pilot. Trust me, I know.

2. Do not spam the forum.
If you need traffic or want to plug your business or website, please contact advertising@jetcareers.com

3. Watch your language.
If you can't express your frustration without the use of a four-letter word, come back when you're not as frustrated.

4. Be kind to your fellow user.
Take it outside, folks, this isn't cage fighting and 99.9% of the rest of us don't care that you two can't get along on a personal level.

5. Pay it forward.
Did someone on the site help you? Return the favor and help someone on site that needs guidance. "I got mine, pull up the rope" isn't what we're about.

6. Be proactive.
Don't like the direction or attitude in a thread? Well, state your case clearly and concisely. Leave the verbal rocket launcher at home.

7. If it isn't "PG-13", it doesn't belong on the website.
I uhh, really didn't need an uhh, that plastered on my work computer in the pilot lounge. Come on now!

8. Consider yourself an invited guest in my living room.
If you wouldn't act a fool in my home as an invited guest, refrain from doing it on my website. Keep you feet off the furniture, don't whizz on the toilet seat and we'll get along just fine! :)

9. Don't Post Angry!
It can really make you look like a doofus. Besides, arguing on the internet is stupid. You don't want to be stupid, right? :)

10. Non-aviation threads belong in the Lavatory.
The lavatory is there as a means to an end when you want to talk about anything that is not aviation related. Enjoy it, use it, don't abuse it.

11. Our moderators are not "referees". We're here to keep Jetcareers a friendly, informative and fun environment, not to ensure "overly vigorous" debates are fought out evenly. If a thread or user has gotten out of hand, report it to the moderation team using the 'report post' feature (). If your response to the user is in clear violation of the the rules of this website, you may receive a warning or infraction -- even though you feel "the other guy started it first". This is very important and helps maintain a healthy environment here at Jetcareers.com.

12. Most importantly, HAVE FUN.
Jetcareers is "edu-tainment". You can have a great time, exchange ideas, actually even learn something about aviation without the stuffy "I have more hours than thou" attitude at other websites. Attend one of our many "Meet 'n Greets" and learn for yourself.

We reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
