Why I like Fed Ex

As a consumer of electronics, I order stuff that's delivered by FedEx occasionally. So, recently I ordered a re-furbished ipod touch from apple computer. It was refurbished in Schenzen, china. I ordered it this past weekend. It was picked up by fed ex on 5/26 in Hong Kong. Arrived in anchorage, AK (!?!) on 5/27. Expected delivery on 5/29. Received by me today!!!!! (5/28).

So, I just want to say: thanks to the FedEx pilots for bringing me the goods so quickly.

PS: I am still waiting for a package (to be delivered by UPS) that was ordered the same day and is coming from texas.

What can Brown do for you?

RD

They can eat my poo is what brown can do!

Just found out today Coffee is a banned substance on the UPS feeder ramp. Only water is allowed on the UPS ramp. Im not kidding they had to talk to our ACP about a pilot drinking coffee on the ramp yesterday morning. He called BS they pulled out the manifesto and sure enough its not allowed on the UPS ramp. They just decided to enforce the rule yesterday WTF?

Sometimes it just works ot that way. I ordered computer parts from newegg and they were shipped UPS ground. All of my parts were coming from either kentucky or NJ except for my graphics card (Cali). The graphics card was slated for the monday after the weekend with the others on that friday to arive at my house. Somehow my card came on friday with everything else. :nana2:

i ordered something being shipped fedex from ohio, it shipped this morning and should be here in chicago the 2nd

Where was this?

Glad you had such a delightful experience with FedEx.

I sent someone in England (Manchester area, to be specific) a small package just as a "what's up" kind of thing; nothing special, just a package that contained some candy and some handcrafted soaps. Total value of all the items in the package: under $25. I went to the FedEx store, used my airline discount, total came out to be something like $10 for second day air.

First off, the package took eight days to be delivered. Then, after all of that time, FedEx charges the person I sent the package to £17 which works out to be just under $30.

I appreciate the airline discount (I really do), but when it ends up costing the person I was sending the package to more than it would have cost me to send the package UPS with no discount, I get somewhat annoyed.

Lesson learned.

They've been cracking down on the ramp rules recently. In fact they seem to be making up more as they go. Suposedly I'm required to wear my road crew vest at the outstations now too.

I got a call yesterday from our dispatcher who told me that UPS was looking for me and that I should be at my airplane. I replied that I was sitting in our van 10 ft away.

It has been so childish with UPS lately. They can suck donkey balls if they make me wear the vest at the outstation seeing its not there ramp. This was in SLC so now on if they ask whats in your coffee mug its water, black water or that mtn dew is nothing but a water. They really should learn from the masters and spend some time with how FedEx runs the feeder ramps.

Back to the thread,
I ordedred a shotgun that was shipped on FedEx from Texas it was damaged during shipping they refused to pay for the damages and the dealer had to return the gun, kinda upset about that. I think the best way to ship air on the brown side is second day. Since volume is so down it will generally get loaded with next day air.

I buy a lot of things on the internet, and I have only used Fed Ex three times (when other services were unavailable). Needless to say, my Fed Ex packages have never arrived on time, but my UPS and USPS packages always make it here before their scheduled delivery date. I don't know if southern Indiana is just a bad spot for Fed Ex or what, but they have never impressed me. UPS on the other hand, is always on time.:D

Never had any problems with either...

Of course, with UPS it helped to know most of the people that handled the packages in my hometown (and I flew their Next Day Air feeder route).

With FedEx, well... living in Memphis (or the Memphis area) can be beneficial sometimes.

It is certainly hardly "needless" to say. Regardless of individual stories, FedEx comes out on top on virtually every test conducted. Add to that the difference in how the FedEx driver won't throw your package at the door (or Lord knows where else, better check the bushes and the backyard), or worse. I receive about a 50/50 mix, and have very rarely had a problem with FedEx, whether I lived in NY, MN, CA, AK, etc. I have had many problems with UPS over the years. Worst was an Amazon shipment for a Harry Potter book for my son. Never did get it, finally got Amazon to refund the money after I went to Borders and bought it!

Well just to update there was such a stink about the coffee etc.. they ran it up the ladder at UPS and they said its ok to have coffee and other stuff on the ramp. It was intended to say no eating and drinking while on the ramp and someone took that as only water.

As for a consumer of stuff delivered I say its 6's from each company. As for feeder flying FedEx is by far the top. Its truly is an airline with delivery trucks not a trucking company with airplanes.

"certainly hardly "needless" to say" I am confused.

Do they really run tests on delivery services? Where exactly do they keep those records and results?

Sorry to hear about your Harry Potter book. :D I hope your son was not too disappointed. I know that I was not very patient when waiting on the delivery guy. I wish both UPS and FedEx would be proficient and deliver their packages professionally and on time.

I got an overdue bill notice from UPS, from an account I did not create on a shipment I did not make.

That was the bad, the good was they cancelled the account and deleted all charges after I called them.
