Dual at the same time?

Is there a reg about giving dual to 2 students in the front with an instructor in the back? Kind of sounds scary now that I think about it...:buck:???

I recently sat in the back seat instructing a CFI in the right seat for his CFII, with an instrument student in the left seat. In that circumstance I feel that had there been a mishap I would not have a hard time explaining what was going on.

In other situations, not so comfortable.
 
This seems like double-dipping! You have the student to pay for training and the other instructor pay for training or two students at the same time. So the flight school gets double the money for one flight, just doesn't seem right!

Every instructor should give undivided attention to one student because that is what they are paying for.

Yeah, I'd be careful about it. Many years ago my Skool O' Flite had a plane run out of gas. There were 2 commercial students in the front seat and a CFI who'd timed out for the day in the backseat. Apparently the FAA still went after the CFI, even though he could not have been giving instruction if he wanted to.

True, but this wasn't a moral question...this was a legal question.

Is it legal? I can't think of why not?

Is it right? You'd have to decide that for yourself.

From the words of a DPE at my airport:

"It's legal but the regs weren't meant to be interpreted that way."

Bottom line, it's legal but not moral.
