Black spots in vision

So recently, say the last month or so, I can see at least 2 dark spots in my left eye vision. The spots about the size of a small bird when you see it in the distance, and they move with the tracking of my eye.

Should I be concerned with this or just remain slightly annoyed?

It might just be "floater" nothing serious, but go have a doc check it out anyway to be sure. I have it in both of my eyes in a silhouette of a stripper.

Was told by an eye doctor that it is the jelly breaking up in your eye or something. In most cases it's normal, ie nothing bad.

Sorry it took so long to get a response back. thanks for the answers. I was always kind of under the impression that floaters were a bad thing.

I had been told in the past by my eye doctor that they are just proteins floating around. The real concern is when it can actually be part of your retina, most likely this will be tested by having your eyes diluted and then having a bright light shined into your eyes.

As the DR said GO to an eye DR now! An ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. The eye can have very serious defects that can cause blindness and there is no pain, and sometimes very little symptoms! Any time you have a noticeable change in your vision you should have it checked out!

I've had floaters all my life. When I was a kid my doctor told me they were normal. I believe he said they were dead cells in the eye. They look like little tiny circles. Sometimes they will bunch together and create a very small black spot in my vision as well. Actually I see one right now as I type this. They are most easily seen against a bright white background. After 30 years I don't even notice them anymore, unless I look for them. But of course, get it checked out just in case!
