The FBI investigates "unauthorized laser illuminations of aircraft".
Plan for a 45 minute phone interview.

Ideally you report it to ATC as it happens so other pilots can get a heads up.

TWR will put it on the ATIS

Don't know what else to call it, but got beamed by a green laser tonight just south of PHX. You know what - it totally p'd me off. Screwed up my eyes for about 30 seconds, too.


I've noticed a couple of reports on here - but wondered what anyone would recommend as far as the best way to report it. I can give the exact location after looking at google maps.

Not a first and won't be a last.

Over the last 2-3 weeks we have had laser instances around KSDL, 5 NW of KDVT, 2 N of KFFZ, and just N of KCHD.

If you get hit just report it to TRACOM, they will pass the info on to the PD and will warn other traffic in the area. Be ready to provide about 3-4 minutes of details, so if you are shooting an approach with a student you might want to give it a minute until you are done.

We report them in regularly, and more then once I have seen one of the firebirds dispatched to the area for a looksee.

But unless this happens again from that area and a unit can be dispatched in a reasonable time to catch people in the act, it'll be difficult to catch anyone in an apt complex.

I think you stand a better chance of the locals catching them than the FBI

All you need to do it get a bigger brighter laser and point it at them next time it happens. Hopefully, it's one that actually cuts and burns through stuff!

Call in a Satellite laser strike and blast 'em into oblivion!
