Woohoo!! Did the training in a "Ultimate Adventure" aka a version of the Citabria, 180hp carburated engine. It was an awesome experience. It certainly is a different type of flying. If you don't have a tailwheel endorsement and have an opportunity to get it, I would highly recommend it! :nana2:

Just did it myself this weekend. Awesome, ain't it?

I couldn't agree more. All the really cool airplanes DO have a tailwheel, and it's at the top of the list of being a FUN thrill in aviation. I've heard old timer's and others say "Your not a real pilot unless you fly a tailwheel", glad I can fit in now. LOL!

Certainly is a different and wonderful experience and makes you use those pedals on the floor...

A whole different animal huh? so much fun and definitely keeps you on your toes. Can't wait to get back in the taildraggers, congrats! you'll never fly the same

One thing I enjoy about flying tailwheel is that it makes you really enjoy the skill involved in flying again. Put me in a tri gear and the last thing I feel like doing is touch and goes. Put me in a tailwheel and its practically all I do. I enjoy the challenge of greasing on a nice wheel or 3 point and the best part is just when you think youve really got it you bounce one and get to go back to the drawing board.

For those who have flown tailwheel you all know that you will be going back to the drawing board for many many years, you NEVER master a tailwheel and I enjoy that.

Congrats! There's nothing like a taildragger to point out weaknesses in stick and rudder skills. Welcome to the club!

You sure got that right! Especially if you've never flown a taildragger or anything that requires sharp attention to keep that ball in between the lines! It certainly gives you a sense of accomplishment after flying a tailwheel around.
