comparing the DC H10-30, H10-60, and the Sig S-68

sorry for adding another headset post, but between the H10-30, H10-60 and the sigtronics S-68 what would you recommend? they're all in my price range, for now i'm just looking for something to get me through the next 3 years while getting my ppl and possibly ifr.
 
I'm a DC fan, so I'll say get the 10-60. There really isn't any reason to get the 10-30 over the 10-60. Whatever you do, get the gel seals, and the cloth covers. Those two pieces alone will make most headsets comfortable. Both the 10-30 and 10-60 are relatively heavy headseats, if weight is a concern look at the 10-13.4, it's in that same price range.

DC's last forever. The old man has probably 10,000 hours on a 30 year old 10-40 that is still going strong.

Can't speak to the other choices, although I've seen a few Sigtronics headsets in the "oops, doesn't work anymore" bin at flightschools, back in the day. As OTP says, DCs are bulletproof. My H10-30 is about to turn 17 and has 4500 hours on it with nary a hiccup. I've spent a grand total of about $50 on new earseals for it in almost two decades. DC FTW.

"explosive decompression schrapnel is covered...it says so right here!" Don't worry, it'll probably just make a dent...think of it as a "character mark". Mine have a few of those.

Good for you. Just remember, when some kid shows off his Bose XCJR10billion with single-button holographic GPS function: It's all fun and games till the technowunder poops the bed and there's a load of rubber dog doo that needs to be there YESTERDAY. THEN see who's laughing about cans and strings.
 
I have the x-11 noise canceling ones and to be honest i don't like them. They are great if the batteries don't die but if the noise canceling is not on then they are worse then the standard DC's.

Our flight school quit selling the x-11 and now they sell the LightSpeed Zulu. Kind of nice because it has bluetooth for your cellphone and ipods (equipped with bluetooth). They have had some problems though and two of the CFI's here who have them, have had to send them in to get fixed (free of course but still an inconvenience).

I'll sell you my x-11's :D
 
I've had a pair of the 10-60's for the last 6 years....almost 5000 hours on it, and they've worked great with no problems. I bought some earseals and a headpad from oregon aero and they're extremely comfortable....you'll enjoy them.
