Don't know what else to call it, but got beamed by a green laser tonight just south of PHX. You know what - it totally p'd me off. Screwed up my eyes for about 30 seconds, too.


I've noticed a couple of reports on here - but wondered what anyone would recommend as far as the best way to report it. I can give the exact location after looking at google maps.
 
Oooh, gotta report that for sure. Just not quite sure who though. Betchya a dollar MikeD knows.
 
Definitely report it! I'm not sure either, but I'd think possibly ATC, local LEOs, or the FAA... oh wait... tell the TSA at the next baggage screening!

Depending on what the location is, will depend on which LE agency you need to file a report with. We talking an urban area (neighborhood) or more rural area? If you were under any sort of ATC control at the time, you should've informed them also. A a minimum, a report can be taken and put on file for record of that area; at least so it can have an eye kept on it. If no other reports have been noted in that area, it'd be tough to know who may have been behind the laser event or if even the laser if from there. But that's beyond the scope of you for now; you just need to make a report. Let me know where, and I can point you in the correct direction.

Estimate about 5 miles South of PHX flying the East transition route. My best search puts it around W. Baseline Rd and I-10. Came from a large apartment complex with a swimming pool in the center.


Sadly enough we were on PHX approach right when it happened, but it was just too busy to get a word in about it. I asked the WX brief guy about an hour ago and he mentioned to call the Phoenix Police. Therefor I'm asking the people who probably really know ;).

Yeah, that would be Phoenix PDs area. Problem is, a large apartment complex is still a pretty big area, vice a particular neighborhood; you know what I mean. Still, wouldn't hurt to file a report just to make a record like I said before. But unless this happens again from that area and a unit can be dispatched in a reasonable time to catch people in the act, it'll be difficult to catch anyone in an apt complex.
 
But then, it might not be the first report and this report may be the extra few fahrenheit in the crucible.

Can you tell I'm having a late night cocktail? :)

In the picture, that's two hotels/motels. The one closest to the freeway is the Ramada, I forget what the one is that looks like an apartment complex, but trust me it's a hotel. Christie's Cabaret is right there as well. Neat Place, that Christie's. Anyway, definitely take the time to report it.
 
I was talking to my father-in-law recently and he said that the worst lasers are the ones that are for pointing out stars for those so inclined for stargazing. Those are the ones that actually disable the pilot for a period of time. I believe him, and I bet that is why some lazers aren't so bad while others are blinding. Take it FWIW.
 
All you need to do it get a bigger brighter laser and point it at them next time it happens. Hopefully, it's one that actually cuts and burns through stuff!
 
Better than almost getting hit by fire works
A guy was along the river bank near the end of the runway and launched two or three of them and then ran away. I wants some BUTTS!!!!
