Do you know your history?

This particular airplane was brought up in conversation last night, and with it came a question.

Figured I would bring it to the top in a thread of its own.

What is it and why is it important?

Does it say "Huff Daland Duster, Monroe Louisiana" on the side ? If so, it's an original Delta (pre-airline) airplane.

T-cart and I answered this one correctly last night, but Ctab made us do it in PM's.

Bafanguy is correct for the most part - but can he, or anyone else elaborate?

Do you think the Delta guys around here know, but didn't answer. Or, did they not answer because they do not know?

...or option three; they haven't seen this post in the 14 minutes between the time it was first posted until yours.

True...but I am thinking that many may not know. I have posted before about Huff Daland Dusters when remarking that Delta would have been better served by keeping the dusting operation and ditching the pax ops in 1966 and it seemed as if they didn't know.

I can't imagine why very many would know that bit of trivia. It probably isn't covered in ground school or indoc. :D
