A little Colgan membership blurb...

The rest of the fee for departure industry has to stoop to the lowest common denominator or lose business. Guess who the biggest lowballer is? I am sure CAL gave you guys those Q’s because of the superior quality of your product right? You should be ashamed to fly a 74 seat aircraft for the wages you guys do. Yet the Colganites swarm to Jetcareers to brag about all their new aircraft they have got and the ones to follow. Why is it you guys are so vocal here. I don’t see the Go jet guys bragging about the new 70 seaters they are getting. I am guessing they aren’t so vocal because they know they have nothing to be proud of. Here is a news flash Colganites. Go jet pays more than you do for smaller A/C. What does that say about you?

I can already tell what comments are going to come from you guys next. “But we are union now and we are trying to change”. While that may be true, it is like a “recovering alcoholic” standing next to me with a half full bottle of Jack telling me he is kicking the habit. I will believe it when I see the results. When you guys raise the standard to at least level with the rest of the industry I will be the first one to congratulate you.

:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat:

I'll buy you lunch any day.
Btw, it's not just Jack I'm drinking but Gentleman Jack!

I don't think any Colganites come on here bragging about our new 74 seat aircraft we are getting in the near future. What I do see is us not only being proud of voting in a union, but the large support and unity our pilot group has shown these last few months. I don't know why you would have a problem with that. Do you really want this industry to get better or do you always want someone there to point the finger at.

And by the way, if there is a recovering alcoholic standing next to you don't kick and spit on him while he is down. Maybe you should extend you hand a little and tell him to keep working at it. Or just saying nothing would be an improvement.

Pilot skill and bad assness definitely are not defined by how many seats are in your aircraft. And for the record I've never seen anyone from Colgan on here saying I'm better than you because I fly a 74 Seat Q400, there just happens to be more active Colgan pilots on the website it seems. Different companies have different outlets to vent, this happens to be a common one for Colgan. On one of my old employers propilotworld.com was the place to b1tch and I know pprune is an even bigger one for Cathay and British Airways guys...

while I agree with some of your post, I do think you need to give the union a chance. The pilots have no say on what type of flying their management gets. Especially without a union. You cant expect people to just quit because their airline was awarded Q400s to fly for CAL. Would you? I had no intentions of quitting pinnacle, when they announced -900s for delta. I dont think anyone would.

So give them a chance, let the union get going and hopefully they can help raise the bar.

btw, where does your hate for colgan come from?

Interviewed there in fall of 2006....

Rejected offer and went to a far better airline 2006. Oh silly tuckn truck is trying to hurt my feelings. I went like 5 interviews in one month back then. I picked the cream of the regional crop. What is your excuse?

Is Chuck Colgan worse than Jonathan Ornstein?

I have never met J.O. Chuckie on the other hand would be selling dead parakeets to blind kids if it were'nt for the airline.

As to the other Machnumber and old town.... Almost any airline is god like compared to Colgan. Have you not seen in the past people joking about how shoddy Colgan MX is? yeah that's really cute. "I fly an airliner held together by MEL stickers" right?

Old town. I am sure you would agree that Colgan is not a place most would want to be stuck for any length of time. If you look at the pay scales / workrules, it is not hard to see how they are one of the worst. My problem is that Colgan does not share the same ire that Mesa and Go-Jets of the world get even though they are lower paid. Why so much acceptance of Colgans bottom feeding ways? A 5th year Horizon skipper makes more than a whole Colgan flight crew flying the exact same plane.

Kinda funny you went to the interview? If Colgan is so bad, how could you have stooped so low as to attend the interview?

Hypocrite #1 = Toonces!

OH, snap. He got you dog! Oh, wait...no he didn't.

Where are you working again? Hope you're at FedEx or UPS....otherwise, you're just part of the problem, like the rest of us.

Hypocrite #2 = BajtheJino!

No, I'm not part of the problem. I chose the freight route. Completely different world. I'm home every night and my first year I get 7 weeks paid vacation. Newsflash: the wages UPS and FedEx are making won't last. If you haven't noticed every airline is hurting this year. What makes the hurt worse for everybody in the regional world is an airline jumping to the front of the line saying YES!, We'll do it for less! Look in the mirror. Thats your airline. The airline you chose to go to during the hiring boom of the last few years. The lowest wage, the longest day. Your choice.
See post above comparing Mesa, GJ, Colgan. The truth hurts.

You claim Colgan pilots were hired with low-time because that's the only place available for low-time people. This is completely false, and you know it.....but it makes for a convenient sound bite (just like the media....lots of talk w/ little substance). ALL regionals, even your beloved XJT was hiring low-time pilots during the hiring boom a couple years ago. This just proves your argument is not valid and you're just bitter. Sure, you can "claim" you turned down the job at CJC; however, do you have evidence to support you ever received an offer of employment. Just because you're working at XJT, doesn't mean you weren't turned down for a job at CJC.

For your information, your fabulous "regional" airline is also taking flying from mainline.....just like EVERY OTHER REGIONAL AIRLINE. So you sir, are no better than any other regional pilot. Thanks for the bashing, it just shows how ignorant you really are. There are major improvements required throughout the regional industry....no single carrier is to fault.

And, for the record, CJC's Beech 1900 pay was industry leading; although, we no longer fly the Hondo. The Saab pay is average, albeit slightly below. Unfortunately, the Q pay is low, but that was imposed on us. Guaranteed, it will be coming up SOON. But hey, I realize it's much easier to cast blame on CJC as they are an easy target.

 Where are you working again? Hope you're at FedEx or UPS....otherwise, you're just part of the problem, like the rest of us.

All you flight instructors soon to be FO's. You heard it here first. Turn down all interviews except fot the 1 airline you really want. Don't use any interviews as a warmup for a better job.

Good thing for you Colgan does not test reading comprehension. I said bottom tier airlines like Colgan USUALLY hire 500 hour wonders. Everyone was hiring them during the good times Colgan hires them all the time. There are exceptions, but I don't see many 777 captains leaving their gigs for Chuckies place.

I was never given a letter of acceptance from Colgan. I got a conference call for Cathy and Chuckie boy. It was funny how Cathy was hamming it all up. "Is this Toonces? This is Cathy De angelo from Colgan and I have Chuck Colgan on the Line" oh boy I thought. I almost wet my pants. "Toonces, Chuck and I would like to offer you a position as a F.O. at Colgan Airlines. How would you feel about that?" Me: No thank you. I already accepted another job. (click) I wonder how many times that happend to them that week?

I never said which airline I worked for. ALL regionals take away mainline flying. Yours just does it for less. Man that should be Chuckies next pitch for CAL. Colgan circumvents CAL;s scope with their Q's.

While it is not ok to work for a lowball airline, the first step to recovery is to recognize and admit the problem. The next step is to find a high place to throw yourself from or begin to remedy the problem with a shiny new contract.

So you avoided my simple question. And if it is XJT, I have alot of XJT pilots at my crash pad. I hear no one complain more then them about work. And every single one of them thinks XJT is Gods most mighty creation. Funny how that works. Yet they complain constantly about getting screwed. In the past probably 5 different airplanes they had maybe 1 MEL or none.

Oh btw, thanks for taking a thread discussing the possible bright future for Colgan and turning into a bash. Colgan is changing for the better and will continue to do so in time regardless of what people like you say.

Mods I apologize...I have absolutely nothing of value to add to this thread but since it was a long and aggravating day I will indulge myself. Toonces, when you start doing something to help better the profession maybe you can talk down on the rest of us. Until then, go yourself. I'll take my yellow card now. Have a good night.

He did when he went to XJT. Not all regionals are the same. XJT was and PSA, Horizon, Piedmont and Eagle are differnent.

What are you talking about?

I mean, I understand they're WO's, but I'm unsure how that fits into the discussion.

Amen. I still fail to see how Colgan is any worse? 500 hour wonders? 30 months ago 500 was high time... Eagle picked up a guy at 194, a friend of mine went to Mesaba at 263 as early as Dec. 2006 a long with a few more in the 350-400 range...:laff:

And for the record I do agree with the regionals hurting majors opinion...:(

<....> Just because you lack the class and tact to interact normally doesn't mean the rest of us should have to listen to your Flt Info crap.

Shouldn't you be out parking your Q in someones back yard? http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/a...83-3a-1of7.pdf
Pay attention to chapter 4. Maybe you can share this with the othe Colganites.

Classy man.... just class

Look, When you interviewed in 2006, Colgan was one of the few remaining regionals out there. We were flying Beeches and Saab's on EAS contracts, running on a non fee for departure system. We operated for our code shares with only small monetary assistance from them.

Whether or not you were offered the job... who knows. I called Karen to have the interview roster pulled, so we will see.

If you were, that means you, were offered a job at a true regional, and went to a contracted lift, "small" airline doing hub-hub flights reducing those "mainline" jobs of which you speak. Way to raise the bar.

I get it, your a bitter FO whos upgrade got pushed... WAAAAA.

Grow up, and maybe someday you can add something of value to the community<....>

Your a real class act toonces, Go flame somewhere else

Just skimming through threads, getting caught up in general, and I see waaaaaay too many cards and moderated posts and...other stuff....in this thread. Too much name calling, and return name calling, and revenge name calling...bah, humbug!
