Plane Crashed near my school today

I feel bad for his son who witnessed this on the beach. Apparently his father was practicing aerobatics 300 yards off-shore for an upcoming airshow.
 
I was flying over the south shore of LI yesterday and there were like 3 targets on my screen about 200ft off the water making circles and I knew they were looking for something. Guess it was that guy.
 
Oh man, thats awful...I met Bob and Chris a few years back at the hotel bar after at the Millville Airshow. Both seemed like really stand up guys. RIP

Wait, were you flying in a small low wing plane? I think I might have seen you.
 
Bob was a great guy. Our entire FBO is a very distraught over the incident. We took off behind him on Sunday out of HWV, my student pointed out "oh look at P-40!" we gave him a friendly wave, and off he went. We went to HFD and when we came back, we found out that was his last flight. RIP :(
 
That sucks. :( RIP

That P-40 was based at RFD for a while until Bob bought it. I have a lot of pictures of me in front of it during my younger years when it was my favorite plane.
 
i heard someone on the frequency asking NY APP if he had any nnews about a plane that crashed earlier at brookhaven , i believe it was saturday or sunday
