Helicopter Flight TOMORROW!

Never fly one of those higher than you're willing to fall.

Jan and Dean were wrong. You can come back.

Very cool. Enjoy it. I'm a flight Medic on a EC-135 for a hospital here in Shreveport.

Just remember...........it's different and that's all I can say about it!

What type?

R44, I've ridden around in ASTARS, Chinooks, Bell 212s and others ad nauseum, but I've never flown one. This should be really cool.

I'm putting through my WOFT packet too, so this will probably ultimately make or break my decision.

We always talk about the market for fixed wing pilots, how is it for helicopters? I remember a few years back listening on the radio about a training program somewhere and they literally said they were desperate for helicopter pilots. Every time I'm at the local airport I always see those small R22s flying around. By the way why is helicopter training so expensive compared to 172s? Same engine, half the size...

...more moving parts. :)

Welcome to the dark side!

There are those that can hover, and then there is everyone else...

Kevin

I was figuring out how to hover there at the end. I'm debating whether or not I should buy an airplane this summer, or learn to fly helicopters, and after that awesome .6 the answer isn't that easy to figure out.

I flew Helicopters in the Navy.

My primary helo instuctor was a great guy - good sense of humor and sacrcastic just like me. I was getting the hover thing down OK, but I kept drifting forward. His solution? He took me to the edge of the big helo practice field and set me up about 20 feet from the tree-line pointed right at it and said, "OK, you've got the aircraft. Drift forward now!"

I was cured...

LOL, good times. I'd love to get my hands on a Jet-Ranger or a Huey now...

Yeah, me too. But its gotta be a turbine powered helo. Personally, I'd prefer a twin engine one, too.

If only I had unlimited funds.

Of course, a Hughes 500 would look good in my driveway.

Ahhh get the military to pay for it and do Army reserve... or National Guard depending upon what state your in. If it wasn't for my colorblindness thats where I'd be...:yeahthat:
