Airport Snow Removal

As anyone who's seen my "Pictures From The Ramp" threads knows, I always have my camera (a Canon PowerShot S3 IS) with me at work. I figured I'd use it to take some video while plowing at Quonset (OQU) and set it to music:

While recording clips for that one, I managed to capture a humorous radio exchange regarding the quality of our equipment. This was how I spent my New Year's Eve:

Way cool! I've always wanted to flag down the plows/brooms at my airport and ask them if I can drive but I doubt they'd let me. They aren't hiring either. :(

At this time of year, I'd imagine they wouldn't be... ;) It just happens to be part of my job. I work for Landmark Aviation, which has a pretty good sized network of FBO's across the country (and even a few abroad), but things work a bit differently in RI. Landmark manages the state airports (except for PVD) for the Rhode Island Airport Corp., which include Quonset (OQU), North Central (SFZ), Newport (UUU), Westerly (WST), and Block Island (BID). So, in addition to pumping fuel, I get to plow, change light bulbs, issue NOTAMs, and harass wildlife. It's a fun job, and it's interesting to see both the FBO side as well as the airport operations side of things, but I'm looking forward to eventually moving on!
