C-17 Down in Texas

Did anyone notice that CNN now has a category called "air disasters" on the top of the front page. Not a good sign for Aviation.

Yes the link is at the top of the page....Not a big deal really. That is just a link to the Hot Topics of the day.....Unfortunately Air Disaster is right there with the recent spat of incidents. That will soon be replaced by OctoMom or whatever else the media decides we need to be informed about.
 
Why do any fact checking? Just be first. It really doesn't help sensationalize the news, which is what makes bucks.

Thankfully letting the facts get in the way of a good story disappeared with Walter Cronkite.

We have to vet those that are supposed to be finding multiple sources, and getting the truth.

The funny thing is we buy into what they say about the financial crisis.

I just feel bad for the significant others of C17 crewmembers out flying today that watched CNN. That same sinking feeling we have all had when an airplane in an area that a loved one/friend was flying went down.

To be fair, if someone called you and said they saw a C-17 go down, you'd probably believe them. I blame the original tipster more. They did launch an SAR.

I might believe them, but would not report as fact. Other top name news sources did not report it. Even JCers ask around about rumors.
