Facilities Charge?

I know when i flew transplant flights / medical flights in Canada all fee's were waived.

That's pretty cool.

Regarding the other comment, I haven't looked at the fuel prices. I think I said earlier in the thread that we don't care about fuel, the facility fees are all that matter to us in Florida unless we're in the Citation I. If an FBO wants to charge a king's ransom for sitting on the ramp at a public airport, we'll avoid them like the plague until we work a better deal with them, we go to another FBO/airport, or they go out of business. Capitalism is a tough game sometimes.

I was in White Plains the other day (in a Hawker) for a grand total of 15 minutes. Open door, watch passenger leave, walk inside, pay $350 ramp fee, take the last 6 cookies just because, walk to plane and leave!

I can understand if you are on their ramp for a day, or if they move your airplane or something, but for just pulling up to drop a passenger and leave $350 is ridiculous. I would be more than willing to pay a reasonable fee but let's not go crazy.

However, if you show me an airport that has both an Atlantic and a Signature, I'll show you an airport where Signature charges more. Every time.

I was just responding to this statement.

I agree, for landing, kicking PAX out and taking off, these ramp charges are excessive, but you might as well get used to it... it's only going to go up in time. You may want to consider taking the minimum whenever possible to avoid the fees, at least you get something for the money.

We usually do the math and determine if it is worth our while to buy the minimum or just pay the fee. Sometimes we can't take fuel due to a short next leg and landing weight restrictions. Other times we just get a much better deal somewhere else. And most of the time we buy the minimum.

At a lot of Signature and Atlantic's they will waive the ramp fee if you have purchased fuel at another one of their facilities that day. I always ask and sometimes the CSR goes for it, sometimes they don't.

:laff::laff:

when I did one of my xc's up to Tyler (KTYR) it was at night and the guy was apperently put off that we decided to come into his FBO. How dare we. He wanted to charge us some obsurd fee (something like $50) just for chalks under the wheels while we went to the bathroom and strected our legs. My instructor whipped out the Ret. Col Air Force card and then the guy started asking him questions and ended up forgetting all about that dumb fee. Gotta love having an SR-71 pilot as an instructor :D

That's criminal. As you said, it would be different it it were for a day but 15 minutes?
