I'm sure nobody here is guilty of this

I like how they say it was "left in the ON position" ... like it is a switch or something..

Edit** just saw that someone commented on that exact same thing..

The US FAA has issued an alert to airlines following an inspector's report that a first officer's cell phone began ringing at a critical phase of a takeoff recently, an incident the agency says was "a potentially serious hazard".

According to the FAA air safety inspector who was riding along on an unnamed airline's flight from the jump seat, just prior to reaching V1, the speed after which pilots generally are committed to taking off rather than aborting on the runway, a rather loud "warbling" sound was "detected" by both crewmembers.
I used to use the CRJ's autopilot disconnect tone as my phone's ringtone, til I realized that forming a mental association between that sound and my phone was a bad idea--one that could have potentially undesireable consequences down the road.

tisk tisk to those who do that. :sarcasm:

I actually dont see the problem. I mean you have fun getting service at FL350

I think the problem was the fact that it caused a distraction in a critical stage in the takeoff. That doesn't ring any alarm bells for you???:banghead:

I doubt the guy left it on, on purpose, but I'll bet the inspector busted him on it anyway.

I'd venture to say that at one point, in a galaxy far far away, a Fed has accidentally left his phone on during an observation.

No kiddding. Being so concentrated and then all of a sudden feeling a vibration would really startle me.

Seen it happen personally, as the fed was reaming the captain for having a newspaper laying on top of his flightbag during climbout. Was veeerrry quiet the rest of the flight.

I love my student briefing please turn off all portable cell phones, then half way to the runway my phone rings.

I usually end up turning mine off anyway if I remember, because my battery is usually dead at the end of the flight from signal searching.

Its not a huge deal but it can be a distraction and it also has the annoying warbling sound like when you put a phone by a speaker that comes through the headphones in the 145. iPhones and AT&T are the worst.
