Even as a server, people take notice when you're well groomed and your hair and nails are looking pretty... AKA more $$$! :buck:
I can't wait to have to wear an actual uniform (and not just a polo and khakis) because it will mean that I have finally arrived! :nana2:

While I don't get to wear traditional pilot uniform, I due have the privilege of wearing the CAP version of the Air Force Uniform. I like wearing it because it reminds me of the importance of service to my nation and the obligation I have to uphold the good name of all the men and women who have served and are serving this country.
As is one out of uniform.

I respectfully submit that if you are not subject to the UCMJ, you "due" not need to worry about honoring the uniform. That said, I don't want to provoke another CAP pursefight, because I'll inevitably wind up owing Bill another dollar beer.

Oh, sweet genius, you go to K-State. I remember seeing those uniforms when y'all hosted nationals for NIFA. You have to wear those monkeysuits to classes too? Yikes.

yeah, genius, we do have to wear them to our aviation classes...I don't see the 'big problem' in wearing them, it's getting a person ready actually be professional in a professional field..if you talk to most people who wear them, they don't mind it. I bet they were probably the most professional looking team at NIFA? Unlike those spartan guys that jump up and down and yell every time a gulfstream rotates off the runway...

I take pride in my uniform and what I've accomplished. I enjoy representing my profession.
Additionally:
1. straight to the front of the line
2. I can bring coffee through the security checkpoint
3. Discounts on Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts (the DD in the Airways terminal at LGA nixed the $1.00 crew coffee. I was TICKED to pay $2.07 last week!!!)

We can get into this, but all I'm gonna say is we have some FAs that have very professional looking, well pressed uniforms that I would rather have directing traffic than trusting them with passengers' lives. They also like to talk on their cel phones in plain view of passengers.....sometimes while boarding. But, hey, they look good doing it.

Agreed! I was speaking of "all things being equal," I prefer someone who's dressed in the traditional uniform as opposed to the more relaxed, casual attire. Remember, dear, I'm from your parents generation where "clothes made the man." (or woman!)

I personally like the SWA FA uniforms. They fit, as apposed to the polyester potato sacks our crews wear.
I like the fact I don't have to pick out my clothes for work. I'm starting to get annoyed with wearing this uniform though. Mainly because of all these ridiculous Internet arguments about leather jackets, backpacks, hair gel, hats, and so forth. Frustrating.

They still look funny though. Professional.. maybe. Goofy wanabe college kids, definitely! (nothing wrong with that though...)
I thought all college flight teams did that kind of stuff?
I dont really "like" the uniform, but I do like wearing it cause it means I'm getting paid! My current company doesnt wear ties, so that makes it even better!

Sorry, didn't mean anything by it. Other than that I would hate having to go to class dressed like that. I think even in airline groundschool they don't dress up (ask a guy on here named amorris about that).
As far as the "getting ready to be a professional" argument, I'll (hopefully) have an entire career to get used to wearing whatever uniform my employer says to wear. For now, I dress casually, especially since I'm pushing airplanes, fueling airplanes, demonstrating preflight inspections, sumping the DA-42 (a very *ahem* aromatic experience), and flying GA aircraft in the TX summer heat.
