Can you guys believe this?

I saw a banner ad: "ATC Training," and clicked out of pure, morbid curiosity. These people claim that "training in Oklahoma City may not be required" after completing their 12-month certificate program. The tuition: $50,000.

Seriously?

My two cents, i say forget the 50k in the hole, and they say "perhaps" skip OKC.......you figure if they make prior military ATC go to OKC, you know they're going to make these people go to OKC......They probably just skip some of the needless classes they give you at the other schools....besides, while at okc you're getting paid to be there, and you're only there for about 3-4 months...i like the OTS route better, and just learn on the job.

And if you take that 50K course while eating acai berry juice with hoodia, you can get whatever facility you want without interviewing!

Since you can get a 4 year degree for the same price (or less!) than $50k, I'd pass. For a 1 year program that is hideously overpriced. I know the equipment ain't cheap, but you can get an education for something that has much higher income potential for the same amount of money.

I imagine their claim about OKC is based on you getting picked up on a CTO announcement. Anything else would certainly require you to attend OKC for radar training at the least.

So they're not accredited, cost 50k (but your first year salary is 40k according to them so I guess you are only 10k behind after the first year) and they don't say anywhere that you have any faster a route to OKC or your "dream job". What crap.

Hmmm...so they're not making enough money taking student pilots?

They have to try for atc now?

I say every single person on this forum sues.

"Recently, some in the online community have indicated that it seems the government has been hiring the highest scoring candidates first."

Imagine the government hiring those that score the highest according to the online community... insanity.

you mean if you score higher they'll hire you sooner than people that don't score as high???

HOLY GOD FREAKING NO WAY!!!

-edit-

it looks/sounds too shady to even be worthwhile.. even though it's obvious the person putting that book out knows they're being a sheister and scabbing "unofficial" information about this process for personal profit.. you just kinda have to stand back with the "WTF" look on your face.

My husband was telling me something about a place similar to this. Its in Denison, TX which is really close to where we live. I guess they were talking about it on the news. He suggested I try it out...Supposedly the FAA has promised to hire the first 100 graduates. Tuition was like $40,000 for the 10-month program. I said I would take my chances with the OTS route and not have to pay the tuition. Check it out www.link.com/ATC

It's a scam. They may teach you things but they are not an accredited CTI school. If you notice in the FAQs it says at the end of your training you get a certifracate of completion (which means absolutely nothing) and a CTO license following sucessfull certification by the FAA (which they will not give you from this as its not a CTI school)..It also said the average salary for controllers is 122k...even at the lvl 10 facitlity it is not possible to make that under the current pay scale...

Well Kent just started a ATC program too:panic:
Im not sure how well its doing or even if its fullly developed.

Kent Read Kent Write Kent State.

In O...H...I...O
