PUBNAT 5- Announcement ending 7/31

And that's why it's not there because it would make sense.

I wish that a "nationwide" option was there, but I can somewhat understand why it isn't. Think of how many people would put it. I'm not saying everyone would, because there's plenty of people who aren't willing to move to a crappy state. I'm not saying I totally agree with the logic if that is in fact the case, but I can see the argument.

From what Bigey has learned from HR, you can put NATIONWIDE in the comments section and they will consider that.

Yeah, I read that, but I was just saying it's not a "selectable" option, which to me indicates that they don't want everyone putting it. If they did, it would be an option. At least that makes sense to me.

geo prefs in 1-4 weeks! That would be so exciting!!

I'm curious how they really view putting "nationwide" down. As sixthman pointed out, if they wanted you to do that they would have the option and wouldn't make you write it in...I don't know!! I guess it's time to start seriously researching the great places to live in this country ;)

I spoke with an ATM that does the interviews. He said very bluntly that the comments section means essentially nothing (except for putting regions down in a huge state) because in general, they don't even read it.

Would be nice to know which area's are in more need for those of us who don't have a preference

ditto. I'll pass along the advice I've received: think of places people 20-31 years old probably wouldn't want to live for whatever reason, and apply there. If nobody in this age group really wants to live there, they probably need people...since their entire applicant pool falls in that group.

So basically North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, and Arkansas? And maybe Montana, but people do like to fish and hunt.

Failing that, choose places that have both en route facilities and international airports because they have more facilities to staff. That's about all I have heard. I still have no idea where I'm putting down that I want to go, but I figure until the actual geo pref e-mail is here, I don't have to decide.

You'd think so but CA's not hiring right now

Well unless there's a way to get a hold of every place and ask if they're hiring or not, I think most of this has to just be guessing.

I'm still waiting for the day they just put out a list with the expected hires for each facility. Probably will never happen, but that would be fun. I could just see 1,500 people applying for North Dakota because they'll be hiring the most or something. Kinda funny.

Ignorance, no. Statistical assumption, yes.

but according to the statistics from groups 3&4 8 people that we know from the ATC boards whereselected for california. and it tied for thrid of mosst hired states after texas and louisana. so id say these roumrs are pretty much false. its just harded to get selected for californai do to the massive numbers of people that select that as a choice. but to say any state that has an enroute center isnt hiring i would say is completly false.
